Many people have asked me what I think about the 2020 US presidential elections, and who will win. To tell you the truth it’s a very difficult observation this time around, so many factors to consider. One thing I have seen consistent across many astrologers’ analyses is that we could be at War at the time of the election, Mars retrograde, and when that happens elections are postponed.  Looking back at the lunar eclipse of July 4th, 1917 that was in the same nakshatra as this year’s July 4th/5th, Purva Ashada, we see that the events that day were precursors that led to the US entering WWI.  Looking at the military exercises that China and now the US are performing in the South China Sea, I am starting to think that this war may have nothing to do with domestic issues.

Lunar Eclipse, July 4th, 1917 in Washington, DC

This is the chart for the eclipse in Washington DC, and guess what happened on July 4th? The event that triggered Red October. The Russian Provisional Government fires onto protesters in Petrograd. Also, the eclipse happened in the same nakshatra as this year’s July 4th eclipse, Purva Ashada, which means “early victory” and “declaration of war”. This is the first house for the United States’ chart, and the 7th house is the opponent in mundane astrology. The US was just entering WWI on April 7, and that day’s horary chart is in the 2nd house, which puts Rahu in the 8th house; this is the naga or serpent karkotaka. Money, legacies, death, inheritance, and transformation.  It is almost a kala sarpa yoga/dosha, meaning all of the planets are between Rahu and Ketu, except for Uranus retrograde (traditionally the outer planets are not used in Jyotisha), and the Jupiter Mars conjunction in Taurus, the “swashbuckler” combination of planets. A foreshadowing of what was to come the next year, the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918. The year before the Russian royal family had been killed. Look what’s happening now with the British Monarchy.  Also, that year we had the Women’s Suffragette Movement which eventually let to women voting for the first time in the US, and this year we may have our first female VP. It was a big year for women being leaders and involved in politics:

The Symbolism of the US Political Parties

One thing I would say without taking sides is that what I learned from my mentor, Dr. Santhip Kanholy, and this is to pay attention to the nakshatras’ symbols. In general, Jupiter and the nakshatra Ashwini are the Democrats, because their symbol is the donkey, so the horse symbols in astrology apply. Ketu and the nakshatra Uttara Ashada are the Republicans, because their symbol is the elephant.  So when planets are in those placements it will give favor to that party.  Libertarians are Rahu or Saturn and Mrigashira nakshatra, and maybe even Purva Bhadrapada; their symbols are the penguin and the porcupine.

Right now Jupiter is in Sagittarius but it is in Uttara Ashada, so we are seeing a real fight between the two parties.  Once Jupiter goes into Purva Ashada on July 26th I think the Democrats will become stronger.  Saturn is in Uttara Ashada, and this gives a strong foundation for the Republicans this whole year, as Saturn is in his own sign and he is the karaka for governments and authority. I think that once Jupiter goes back into Uttara Ashada on October 30th, the favor will go back to the Republicans and we will see a real struggle between the parties, as the election is on November 4th. Once he goes into Capricorn on November 21st I think the Democrats will be out of favor. I see a real fight here, and when Jupiter and Saturn come together on December 20th we will for sure know the winner. I think we might have another year of the hanging chad, or voter fraud and they will have to recount the votes.  Also, while Rahu is in Mrigashira, which spans Gemini and Taurus, the leaning will be towards the Right, as this nakshatra is the true Libertarian who will never vote Democrat, so I feel Independent voters will vote Republican by the time we reach the election.  Rahu will be in Mrigashira nakshatra a at the time of the election, and he is exalted there, especially on the Taurus side.

Donald Trump’s Birth Chart

Ashtakavarga shows the strength of the houses and signs in a person’s chart for that year. As you can see from the chart above, Taurus is his strongest sign this year, Rahu, the north node of the Moon, enters Taurus on September 19th; Trump, who is much more Libertarian at the core of his beliefs, has Rahu, Sun, and Uranus in Taurus/Mrigashira, the nakshatra of the Libertarian Party.  His 10th house of career recognition receives the highest score in his ashtakavarga chart with 34 points, and when the Sun was in Taurus he gets 6 points this year; when the Moon is in Taurus each month he gets 5 points; this is extremely beneficial for Trump.  On election day the Moon will be in Gemini, which he only has 4 points there, but in Mrigashira nakshatra, so I feel this will also help Trump.  While Jupiter is in Sagittarius he gets 6 points, but when he goes back into Capricorn he will only gets 2 points, which is not beneficial. Saturn receives 5 points while in Capricorn, but when he shifts into Aquarius next year he will only get 3 points.

On October 6th Ketu will conjunct his Moon in the 4th house of the homeland; the Moon is the public, and Ketu is blind, so people may blindly be following him who never voted for him before, or people will not vote for him, because they are being swayed by public opinion.  October 14, 2020 he will have his nodal return where transit Rahu and Ketu conjunct his Rahu and Ketu.  A nodal return happens every 18 years, and if you have grown then you will be up on the next level of the spiral of your life; if not, it will show you where you need to work on your consciousness. Rahu is our destiny in this life, and Ketu is our past life karma, so when they return to where they were when you were born events are fated and destined.  Mars in Pisces will be retrograde in his 8th house at the time of the election; this could mean that we are at war at the time of the election, and hence no election; he will be dealing with the virus in full force, as the opposite sign from Pisces is Virgo, or health.  This is a massive transformation for him, and he will be dealing with a lot of people’s pent up anger over the virus.  Whoever wins the election, it will be karmic for him.  On February 17th, 2021 transit Saturn leaves the 45 degree orb of the Moon, leaving Sade Sati; this is when transit Saturn is conjunct his Moon, the sign before and the sign after his Moon sign of Scorpio.  The dates of Trump’s Sade Sati are:  November 15, 2011 to January 24, 2020.  It is a time of trials and tribulations, but Saturn delays but never denies, that’s Mars’ job.  The US chart is also in Sade Sati, so it is no wonder that he was destined to lead during this time of crisis.  So, this will take some pressure off of Trump; now, this could be because he lost the election and can now focus on his home-life, or it could mean that the public opinion is in his favor.  May 24th Jupiter goes into his 6th house of the work and enemies, and Jupiter is the Great Benefic; this will give Trump more power to conquer his enemies.  On July 16th, 2021 he will enter his Jupiter Mercury dasha cycle, and his Jupiter is in the 11th house, and Mercury is in the 2nd house; his wealth will increase dramatically, and he will gain popularity, especially with the younger generation. From May 23rd to November 1st, 2021, he may be out of favor with the public again, because Saturn goes retrograde and goes back into the 45 degree orb of the Moon, so issues from his Sade Sati period will return.
