This New Moon takes place at 2:52pm EST at 13 degrees of Gemini, Ardra nakshatra. This means “the moist one”, and spans from 6.4 to 20 degrees of Gemini, and the symbols are a teardrop, a diamond, and a human head. The deity that rules this lunar mansion is Rudra “The Howler”, a form of Shiva the god of destruction. This is the “Star of Sorrow”, and the fixed star that rules here is Betelgeuse, which sits on the right shoulder of the constellation of Orion. This is a powerful star, and it brings wealth and marital honors to the individual who has this prominent in their Birthchart, but can bring materialism, as well. The myth says that Rudra was the form of Shiva that shot down Prajapati, the Creator of the Universe, to stop him from sexually violating his daughter, Rohini (Aldebaran). This destroyed the Oneness of the Universe.
This nakshatra is the “Dark Night of the Soul”, and is followed by Punarvasu, “The Return of the Light”. This is the portion of the sky that brings sadness, hence the symbol being a teardrop, and tragedies occur when planets transit here. People that have this showcased in their chart will have a self-destructive quality to them, and they may self-sabotage as a form of low self-esteem. They are often depressed and may even try to hurt themselves, as there is a deep sadness in them that they are trying to escape from. PTSD can be seen from this nakshatra, and tragedies that leave haunting memories. They love to renovate old things and bring them to life again as a sort of therapy for their pain. They can be arrogant and need to remember to be grateful and humble, however. They must suffer and cry to develop themselves into a diamond and obtain the wisdom that only comes from living through tragedy. Gemini is ruled by Mercury, and Ardra is ruled by Rahu, so these two transit planets will be particularly important today.
The Fixed Star Betelgeuse
Betelgeuse, 28°45′ tropical Gemini, 4.95 sidereal Gemini, Mrigashira
Mars/Mercury: high enterprise, combative, destructive
Fixed star Betelgeuse, Alpha Orionis, is a 0.4 magnitude super-giant red star located in the right armpit of the Hunter, Orion Constellation. Betelgeuse is labelled alpha Orion even though it is the second brightest star in Orion star behind Rigel. Constellation Orion is drawn as a hunting man, and Betelgeuse sits on his right shoulder. Betelgeuse is one of the largest stars known, and is rapidly shrinking in size at an increasing rate. Betelgeuse is 15% smaller than it was fifteen years ago. This has led to predictions that Betelgeuse will explode into a supernova in the next few years. Astronomers say it will turn into a supernova at some stage but cannot say when, but when it does it will be as bright as the full Moon. It gives martial honor, power, and wealth. War and carnage are presaged by Betelgeuse. The star is indicative of great fortune, martial honors, and other kingly attributes.
Forecast
On a personal level this New Moon will most likely bring us things that make us cry, as the symbol of the teardrop suggests. Tragedies happen here, so it could even be something that has recently occurred, and now we will have the time to grieve. As if this world can take anymore heartbreak, we can only hope and pray that no more sadness happens. Let’s hope that we can all stop and look around, look at all of the problems of the world, and take it in. Things have to change. People need to change. Leaders need to change. This world is going through a massive transformation, and we need to stop the greed and take care of each other. There needs to be more kindness. We should be crying; we should be acknowledging what we are doing to each other and the planet. It’s shameful, and this suffering needs to stop. So, on this New Moon, let the tears fly, let yourself feel whatever pain you’ve been holding back. The Dark Night of the Soul is there for a reason, embrace it, and know that there will be a Dawn, but only when you’ve completely gone through the night.
For the US this New Moon is occurring in the 6thhouse of health, open enemies, work/service/hands on work, and attacks or accidents. This concerns me, as Gemini rules the lungs, and when the pandemic began, we had Rahu in Ardra. What also concerns me is that Mars is still gandanta until July 1st and having him in his own sign of Aries is making him less emotionally attached to his actions, especially since Rahu and Uranus are conjunct him, too. Gandanta makes you feel like you’ve been sucked into a riptide at the beach, and you can’t get air. You’re drowning in emotion and having the Moon in Ardra emphasizes this feeling. Also, Saturn retrograde is giving his 3rd aspect to Mars and in a very tight orb. This produces conditions for violent attacks and accidents for the US from our enemies. Neptune has also just gone retrograde right before the New Moon, so this should actually reveal some hidden information and we will get some truth finally.
The saving grace here is that the ruler of this New Moon is Mercury, and he’s sitting with Venus in her own sign of Taurus. For this chart it’s in the 5thhouse of creativity, and since Venus rules the arts there could be some beautiful art being made and enjoyed at this time. Also, Jupiter is in his own sign of Pisces, and he is close to Venus’ degree of exaltation, which is 15 degrees of Pisces. Jupiter is in the 3rd house of short distance travel and media, so people should be enjoying themselves on vacation and eating lots of delicious food.
Be careful around water, as Neptune stationing retrograde conjunct Jupiter will definitely produce storms, and even drownings; Mars gandanta is not helping, either. Pluto retrograde on the ascendant for this chart shows that deaths will be a concern, and that shady, secret meetings between powerful people will be occurring, and emphasizes the immense transformation of this New Moon.
