July 28th-Jupiter Goes Retrograde, 4:38pm EST, 14 degrees Pisces
Jupiter is in Pisces and will go retrograde on Thursday, July 28th at 4:38pm EST and will remain retrograde until November 23rd at 8:03pm EST. Jupiter is Guru, he is the planet of education, philosophy, religion, spirituality, and for a woman he represents the spouse, and therefore he symbolizes children, too. Jupiter is the Great Benefic, and where he sits in a chart he brings good luck, hope and optimism. He also expands whatever planet he sits with in a chart, or the house that he sits in is exaggerated during his transit. Guru also represents money, and we will often come into some kind of money when he triggers significant points in our charts. When a planet goes retrograde it is literally brighter in the night sky, as if to say, “look at me, I have something to tell you!” Matters that we had previously traversed in these areas of life will crop up again so that we can resolve them.
Currently, Jupiter is at 14 degrees of Pisces in the nakshatra of Uttara Bhadrapada, and it will stay within this lunar mansion the entire duration of its retrograde cycle and end up at 4 degrees. This nakshatra is “the latter happy feet” and the ruling deity is Ahir Budhyana, “the serpent of the deep”. It spans from 3.20 to 16.40 of Pisces, and this is the “Warrior Star”, and the fixed star Algenib, which is on the tip of the wing of the Pegasus constellation, and it gives great literary and oratorical talents, as well as a mature intelligence. Kundalini energy, which rises from the deep and base of the spine, is seen in this lunar mansion, as Ahir Budhyana is secluded at the bottom of the ocean. The rising of kundalini power is akin to fire and its creative potential to heal and transform. There is a wisdom that comes from the depths, and this star taps into that source.

Gamma (γ Algenib), marks the extreme tip of the Horse’s wing, so that its name Algenib has been considered as derived from Al Janah, “The Wing”, but it probably is from Al Janb, “The Side”; it has sometimes been written, “Algemo.” The Persian astronomer Al Biruni (973-1048 A.D.) quoted it, with delta (δ which is now Alpheratz, the alpha (α) star of Andromeda), as “Al Fargh al Thani”, the Second, or Lower, Spout, i.e. of the Bucket. Penetrating mind and a strong will, as well as determination. An impressive way of speaking and a gift for oratory.
In conjunction with the Sun, it will make for a fighting spirit and a love of learning. Connected with Mercury, Venus and Jupiter, one can count popularity and interest in art and literature and distinction, if not further configurations also point to similar gifts. With Saturn, in general, it is thought of as an impeding factor, but has a name for good memory according to Morin. If angular with Mercury and Uranus, Algenib will make for an inventive spirit, as well as excess of heat resulting in violence and perhaps misfortune or dishonor.
How Jupiter Retrograde Will Affect the US
Currently, transit Jupiter Rx is conjunct Neptune Rx and this denotes a tendency for great spirituality, and that truths will be revealed. Being that it’s in the 4th house of the homeland, it’s clear that we are in an economic recession, however the government refuses to acknowledge this. Having Jupiter conjunct Algenib will bring out high art and literature, but considering it’s making a trine to Mercury, and Mercury is in Ashlesha nakshatra of the snakes, we need to be careful of sudden violence or accidents, such as a snakebite and the poisonous venom that it uses as a defense. It can be a time when we wake up from the delusion that we’ve been lying to ourselves about, and for some this could mean passing on into the next dimension through death. As Jupiter is in the indicator for children, we could be returning to see our children again, or we could be returning to school as a teacher or student. Guru in his own sign of Pisces will give us strong dreams, but when retrograde we could be dreaming about matters that we need to return to again to resolve. We could even have prophetic dreams with this combination, and even having dreams about our teachers, children or spouse. If you’re a single woman this could be a time when a partner comes back to you, or you are revisiting issues with your partner that uncover the truth. Jupiter rules law, and laws can be overturned when Jupiter goes retrograde.
For the US this transit will occur in the 4th house of the homeland, real estate, happiness, and the mother. I feel this indicates a downturn in the real estate market, but considering how good it’s been for the past two years, this is probably bringing it back into balance. It’s been a sellers’ market, but now that the interest rates have been increased, prices may come down so that buyers can get the mortgage to buy the American Dream of owning their own home. Jupiter rules education, and there’s also been talk that the pandemic freeze on student loan debt will be over soon, and this means that more money will be siphoned off of the American public. This is the machine of the Capitalist economy, once the American public gets any sort of financial prosperity, events shift in the market to make prices higher, and all of our savings gets eaten up back into the system. The movie, Thrive: What Will It Take?, speaks of this, and it’s exactly what is happening right now. Cryptocurrency was allowing normal everyday people to become financially savvy and proficient, and now that it’s crashed, many are back to Square One again. Even the stock market is teetering on the brink of disaster, and many are saying that we are headed towards a crash. The only stable currency is gold or silver, and we will see many people shift their investments with this Jupiter retrograde cycle.
The fourth house is the house of the mother, and the home, so considering that Jupiter is retrograde there, it indicates that we may see a lot more homeschooling this year. Families do not feel safe sending their children to school, and are sick of the mass shootings that happen daily in this country. People are losing their faith in the system and do not want to sacrifice the safety of their children for an education that might be better served at home. This is a lack of faith also in universities, and sending kids to school to get a degree that they may or may not be able to get a job with. We will see a restructuring of how we think about education with this transit, tapping into multidimensional thinking to include neurodivergent students. September 11th Neptune retrograde will go back into Aquarius and separate from Jupiter, and won’t be conjunct again until February 18th. This indicates storms and floods, and we actually may have more snow with Neptune directly behind Jupiter this winter.
