Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. This month’s Tarot card is Death, and I know that word makes many of you uncomfortable. I see it in my readings all the time—the sharp intake of breath when the card appears, the way eyes widen, the unspoken question: Am I going to die?
No, my love. The Death card is not about physical death. It is about transformation, release, and the beautiful, necessary endings that make way for new beginnings. But today, I want to go deeper. I want to talk about actual death—not to frighten you, but to show you how clearly it can be seen in the stars, and how understanding that can bring peace rather than fear.
As we navigate this Eclipse Season with the Solar Eclipse on August 12th and the Lunar Eclipse on August 28th, the veil between worlds is thin. What has been concealed will be revealed. And sometimes, that includes the truth about our own mortality.
So let’s look at three very different souls who left this earth in the past year. Their charts tell the story clearly, and I hope that by seeing it, you will find comfort in knowing that death is not random—it is part of the divine choreography.
Terry Bollea, aka Hulk Hogan
July 24, 2025 — Heart Attack
Hulk Hogan was a larger-than-life figure in every sense of the word. His death from a massive heart attack at age 71 shocked the world, but to an astrologer’s eye, the writing was on the wall.
The Dashas: Hogan died in his Jupiter-Rahu Dasha—a powerful combination. Jupiter, the Great Benefic, was in Taurus in his 11th house, the house of gains and desires. But its lord, Venus, was in the 12th house of loss and ultimate surrender. And here is the stunning detail: he died the very day he entered his Rahu-Jupiter period. The universe doesn’t miss a beat.
Rahu represents out-of-control behavior, obsession, and the things we cannot see clearly. Jupiter, while the Great Benefic, expands whatever it touches. For Hogan, this meant decades of steroid use that ultimately weakened his heart. Jupiter expanded the consequences of Rahu’s obsessions, and the heart gave out.
The Transits: On the day of his death, transit Pluto was Retrograde on his Rahu—the planet of transformation and death, moving backward, often indicating a time of intense internal review and the culmination of deep, karmic patterns. Transit Venus was on his Jupiter, and Venus is the ruler of Taurus, the sign where his Jupiter sat. But transit Venus was also in his 12th house of finality, the house of endings, loss, and the ultimate surrender of the body. Venus, the planet of love and values, was activating his Jupiter, bringing a culmination of his life’s desires and gains. Additionally, transit Jupiter was in Gemini in his 12th house, conjunct his natal Venus and Uranus. Jupiter, the planet of expansion, was in the house of endings, amplifying the energy of release and transformation. The Guru was literally in the house of surrender.
Hogan had many planets in Cancer in the sidereal zodiac—his Lagna (Ascendant), Mercury, Ketu, Sun, and Mars (debilitated) all in this emotional, watery sign. His Lagna and Pluto are in Gandanta, the cosmic knot where water meets fire, a place of intense emotional processing and karmic intensity.
With all that Cancerian energy, he felt everything deeply. His heart was his weakness—literally. The heart is ruled by the Sun in the physical body, and with so many planets in Cancer, the sign of the mother, home, and emotional security, his emotional wounds ran deep. His Mercury in Cancer meant that his mind was colored by emotion—he thought with his heart, not his head.
When his longtime marriage ended, it was the beginning of his decline. The emotional blow of that divorce, combined with the public turning against him after he defended President Trump, was too much for his sensitive Cancerian soul to bear. With Mars debilitated in Cancer, he didn’t have the tools to channel all that emotion productively. The anger, the grief, the sense of betrayal—it all got stuck in his body, and eventually, his heart gave out.
What we can learn: Hogan’s chart shows us that our emotional patterns and our physical health are inextricably linked. When we suppress our feelings or ignore our emotional needs, the body eventually speaks. His journey was about learning to channel that fierce, emotional Cancerian energy into something nourishing rather than destructive.
Bob Weir
January 10, 2026 — Lung Issues
Bob Weir’s passing was unexpected. We all knew he had been unwell, but no one anticipated he would go so quickly.
The Dashas: With Bobbie, the indicators are remarkably clear. He had a Kala Sarpa Yoga—the powerful, fated alignment where all planets are hemmed between Rahu and Ketu. And here, both Rahu and Ketu were exalted: Rahu in Taurus, Ketu in Scorpio. This is an intense, karmic configuration that speaks to a life of profound spiritual purpose and inevitable, fated transitions.
He died in his Moon-Ketu Dasha—and the Moon was debilitated in Scorpio, conjunct Ketu in his 12th house. The 12th house is the house of loss, endings, and the ultimate surrender of the body. The Moon, which represents the mind and emotional body, was weak and in a place of dissolution. And both were conjunct Jupiter, the planet of spirituality and the afterlife.
The Transits: On the day of his death, transit Uranus was Retrograde in Taurus, conjunct his exalted Rahu and opposed to his Ketu, Moon, and Jupiter in Scorpio. Uranus, the planet of sudden and unexpected events, was activating the Kala Sarpa Yoga axis, bringing a fated, shocking culmination. Transit Jupiter was Retrograde in Gemini in his 7th house—the 7th house is a maraka (death-inflicting) house, and Jupiter, the Great Benefic, was retrograding through it, indicating a return of karmic energies related to life and death. Jupiter had briefly touched into Cancer the previous June, where his Mars, Pluto, and Saturn reside. I suspect he probably had some indications of bad health at that time—the seeds of his final illness were likely planted then.
What we can learn: Jupiter is often involved in death charts, and this is no coincidence. Dying is a spiritual experience—it is the soul’s journey home. Ketu, the headless dragon, represents liberation and moksha. When Moon and Ketu are together in the 12th house, it is a sign of a soul ready to release its attachment to the body and return to source. We can take comfort in knowing that Bobbie’s soul was ready. The Kala Sarpa Yoga shows us that his life followed a fated path, and his death was not a tragedy but a completion. The Uranus opposition to his Ketu-Moon conjunction shows us that the ending was sudden and unexpected, but the stars had been aligning for it for some time.
Robert Redford
September 16, 2025 — Complications from Heart Disease
Robert Redford passed peacefully in his sleep at his home in the Utah mountains at age 89. It was the end of a long, full life, but even in its gentleness, the astrology is crystal clear.
The Dashas: Redford died in his Mercury-Jupiter Dasha. Mercury was in Leo, conjunct the Sun, the Moon, Venus, and Neptune—all in the 6th house of health. That is a massive stellium in the house of illness and daily struggle.
The Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Neptune were all in Leo (the 6th house). Neptune can indicate a foggy diagnosis, a hidden illness, or something that isn’t easy to pin down. In the 6th house, it speaks to a long-term health struggle that was not always visible to the outside world.
His Jupiter, however, was in Scorpio in the 9th house—the house where the Guru loves to be. The 9th house is the house of dharma, spirituality, and liberation. Jupiter there, in the sign of deep transformation, indicates a spiritual liberation from the body. He had been struggling with heart disease for years, and his body was ready to release.
The Transits: On the day of his death, transit Jupiter in Gemini was conjunct his Ketu in the 4th house. The 4th house is often referred to as an ending house—it is a moksha house, a place of liberation. Ketu in the 4th house indicates a soul that is ready to release its attachment to home, family, and the physical body. Jupiter, the Great Benefic, was amplifying this energy of spiritual liberation. Additionally, transit Mercury had just gone into Virgo in his 5th house, leaving behind his Mercury-in-Leo stellium in the 4th house. Mercury, the planet of the mind and communication, was moving into a new phase, while his natal Mercury—and all the planets in that powerful Leo stellium in the 4th house—were being activated by transit Jupiter, bringing a culmination of his life’s journey.
What we can learn: Redford’s chart shows us that even in death, Jupiter brings blessings. The Guru in the 9th house suggests a soul that has completed its spiritual journey and is ready to ascend. His passing was not a tragedy—it was a graduation. He left the body suit behind and returned to the stars he loved so much.
What Can We Learn From All of This?
My dear ones, I want you to hear me clearly: death is not something to fear. It is the dropping of the body suit, the final surrender of this temporary vessel, the soul’s homecoming.
When you understand astrology, it becomes crystal clear when our time is near. The Dashas align. The transits activate the right houses. The stars speak clearly to those who know how to listen.
-
Hogan’s chart shows us how emotional patterns and physical health are intertwined. We can learn to honor our feelings and not suppress them. We can learn to channel our energy wisely so we don’t burn out.
-
Weir’s chart shows us the power of fated endings. We can learn to accept that some things are beyond our control. We can learn to trust the divine plan.
-
Redford’s chart shows us that death can be a gentle, spiritual release. We can learn to see death not as an ending but as a transition—a return to the source of all things.
And in all three, we see the same pattern: transits activating the houses and planets of endings, liberation, and surrender. The 12th house, the 4th house, the 7th house (maraka), the Dashas of Ketu and Jupiter. The stars are always speaking. We just have to learn to listen.
A Practice for Eclipse Season
As we navigate these August eclipses, I encourage you to sit with the Death card. Not in fear, but in curiosity. Ask yourself:
What am I ready to release?
What old identity is ready to die so a new one can be born?
What patterns am I clinging to that are holding me back?
How can I honor the temporary nature of this body while still cherishing the life I have?
And above all: Do your mantras. Stay inside during the eclipses. The ancient rishis knew that eclipse energy is powerful and can disrupt our energetic bodies. But mantras chanted during an eclipse are amplified and will bless you for the next six months until the next eclipse season.
In Closing
Death is inevitable. But it is also sacred.
When you see it in a chart, it makes so much sense. You can see the timing, the alignment, the divine choreography. And when you see that, you can stop fearing it.
You were never in control anyway. You were always in the hands of the divine.
So this month, as the eclipses shake us up and the Death card calls us to release, let go of your fear. Trust the process. Trust the stars. And know that when your time comes—and it will come for all of us—it will be exactly as it should be.
With love and stardust,
Katya
