Currently we have the Sun and Mars in the Cancer nakshatra of Ashleisha and Venus on the 5th, whose symbol is a serpent, or a coiled up snake. Mars is gandanta, or “drowning”, and debilitated, AND combust the Sun, which means the negative side of Mars is coming out in the form of violence. The gandanta point is the karmic knot at the end of a cycle, which we must untie to get to the next phase, and happens at the end of each water sign. It occurs from 26.4 degrees of a water sign to 3.2 degrees of the next fire sign.
We’ve seen three different kinds of snakes in our yard recently, and we have a kala sarpa yoga in the sky right now, which means the serpent of time where all of the traditional Vedic planets are transiting between Rahu and Ketu; fated events are unfolding. The energy right now is literally squeezing the life out of us, but this poison is medicine. We must use it to transmute the evil around us and heal the collective. As Transit Jupiter retrograde is in Scorpio trining the Sun and Mars, this brings our beliefs are changing, and particularly in regards to religion, and our philosophies of life. Right now we have had two mass shootings in the US within 24 hours, and we seem to have been bit by a snake. Hidden vipers are coming out of the woodwork to inject us with poison through firearms, which are ruled by Mars. Jupiter is asking us to think differently now; the old ways will no longer serve us. Saturn is retrograde in Jupiter’s sign right now of Sagittarius, so laws must and will change. Venus in Ashleisha is asking us to question our values, and also love relationships will come under scrutiny at this time.
Ashleisha means “the embracer” and spans from 16.4 to 30 degrees of Cancer. The deity that rules this nakshatra is called the Nagas, or the deified snakes, and the stars that rule this nakshatra are in the head of the Hydra, a serpent-like creature, and Acubens, found in the right claw of the Crab. Mercury rules this nakshatra, and it is good for studying occult matters, writing and dealing with the public. Called the “Clinging Star”, people with this nakshatra prominent in their chart often cling so hard to people and things that they squeeze them to death; as Cancer is the mother this is the difference between smothering and mothering.
As this nakshatra is associated with poison, and using poison as medicine, great wisdom is seen here. The Greek Rod of Aesculapius is seen as the symbol of wisdom and philosophy, and is used universally by medical doctors. The negative side of this is black magic, and manipulating situations by being sneaky and dangerous Liars. This nakshatra also uses sex to get their way, and they have very large hypnotic eyes that can hypnotize you just like a snake charmer. Magic in all forms is seen here, and the higher Consciousness aspect is to use this knowledge of sorcery and medicine to heal people, not to hurt people.
