This month the winds of change will sweep through and clear the path for new beginnings. Pluto goes direct, Venus goes into her moolitrikona sign, Jupiter goes gandanta, there’s a Saraswati Yoga in Scorpio, and Mercury goes retrograde. Passions will be high, and we have to be careful of our anger with Mars still combust the Sun. The Hunter’s Full Moon is this month, and by the end of the month we should have more autumnal weather in the Northern Hemisphere.
October 3rd-Pluto Direct: 26 degrees Sagittarius
Pluto went Retrograde on April 25 at 29 degrees Sagittarius, and now is going direct again. Pluto is the planet of Darkness and things hidden underground, also organized crime, war, as well as fear in general. Pluto has been traveling with Saturn and Ketu in Sagittarius for most of this year, and it has added an even more heavy and depressing quality to this conjunction. We have watched old institutions and religions be faced with changing or being annihilated completely, and Pluto indicates a lot of fear. It is scary to let go of old belief systems , but it is for the ultimate good and healing that can occur when this happens. Now that Pluto is going direct he will be going into Capricorn very soon , and Saturn and Jupiter will be in Capricorn next year, so we will definitely see a transformation of spiritual and governmental authorities.
October 3rd-Venus goes into Libra
Just as Pluto goes direct the next day we have Venus going into her moolitrikona sign of Libra. This is where she does her best work, and this will definitely take the edge off of the intensity right now. This is a great time for the arts, parties, visiting friends, pleasure and enjoyment of life in general. The weather today in the northern hemisphere is finally turning cooler and more fall-like here in the Midwest, so we feel much better, as well. She joins Mercury who is already in Libra, while the Sun and Mars are still conjunct in Virgo putting the focus on health and discernment. As they are 12 places away from Venus right now, be careful of enemies at your back, perhaps talking about you behind your back. It could even just be gossiping and jealous critics, but having Venus in her best sign definitely will definitely incite jealousy. Do your psychic protection.
October 13th, 5:09pm EST-Full Hunter’s Moon: 23 degrees Pisces, Revati
The Full moon is taking place on October 13th at 5:09 PM EST at 23 degrees of sidereal Pisces in the nakshatra of Revati, which means “the wealthiest”, and spans from 16.4 to 30 degrees of Pisces. The symbol is a fish, a pair of fish, or a drum to mark time. The deity that rules this nakshatra is Pushan, the Nourisher, the protective deity for safe travel. The star that rules this nakshatra is located in the tail of the northern fish constellation, Al Pherg, which gives organizational ability and a promise of success. The planetary ruler of Revati is Mercury, and in Persian astrology the planet Venus is associated with this nakshatra.
The mythology is about Pushan who is invoked for the protection of flocks and herds; he also recovers lost articles and animals. This nakshatra indicates a journey and may in fact represent our final journey from this life to the next, as it is the last and final nakshatra. This gives protection for safe travels, and people that have this nakshatra strong in their chart are sweet and caring and responsible friends. They love small animals and also love connecting with humanity and society in general. They make great foster parents of children or animals, and they are very non-jealous and caring for others to the point of sometimes being codependent. There are disappointments early in life, and physical weakness and the tendency to childhood diseases force them to become compassionate of others, and forgiveness is their Forte. These people are very creative and love the Fine Arts, and often times are artists professionally. These people are very mystical and they have a lot of faith in the good of humanity, and they’re very devoted to God. They do best if they live by water and they are protected in their journey from this lifetime to the next lifetime.
On this day of the Full Moon we have Mars still conjunct the Sun in Virgo, and in the northern hemisphere we have been dealing with a heat wave in some parts, and extreme snow in others. Once Mars finally moves past the Sun we should get some relief, but we may still be experiencing warm weather at this time. Having Mars oppose the moon on this Full Moon day indicates that passions will be high, and especially we should be careful of our anger. Personally whenever there is a Chandra Mangala yoga in a birth chart where Moon and Mars are either conjunct or opposite it indicates great wealth, so if this Full Moon falls in your 2nd or 8th house you could receive a boon at this time; in other words if you are a an Aquarius or Leo rising sign in the sidereal zodiac (not Western). As the ruler of Revati is Mercury we see that Mercury is sitting with Venus in her sign of exaltation in Libra. As Libra is the sign of peace, and finding balance within chaos, we see that Mars is sitting 12 places from this conjunction indicating enemies from behind. In the United States chart this transit Mars and the Sun are in the 10th house of career, so we should be very careful of attacks at this time to the economy and our land. Jupiter is in Mars is sign of Scorpio, and is getting ready to go gandanta, which is a karmic knot at the end of a cycle that must be unraveled before we move on to the next cycle. I believe on this Full Moon day we will get a taste of what is to come with Jupiter going gandanta and entering Sagittarius. Remember in the spring the last time Jupiter went into Sagittarius was the day of the fire at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. We will certainly hear more about this at that time, and also other aspects of the church will be crumbling, as well.
October 18th-Sun goes into Libra
Happy birthday, Libras! In the sidereal Zodiac the sun goes into Libra today, and finally takes a step away from Mars. They will come together again in November for the last time in the sign of Libra, but until about November 10th we get a break from this heated combustion. Whenever the Sun is aligned with a planet it literally steals its energy, and the planet cannot do its normal job properly. On an astronomical level the Sun because it’s absorbing the planets energy becomes erratic and starts producing a lot of sunspots, and if they are earth facing, then we can get Corona mass ejection which will disrupt our electric grid, or geomagnetic storms which can affect our physical and mental health. As Libra is the sign of peace We will see more discussion in emphasis placed upon creating peace versus war. Even low Libra is the sign of the balance scales, individuals with this placement strong in their birth chart are rarely at peace, they’re usually put in stressful situations to force them to find their own inner balance. This also happens on a global scale where we are forced to choose peace because war is imminent.
October 18th-Jupiter is Gandanta
From October 18th to November 21st Jupiter goes into the gandanta zone from 26.4 degrees of Scorpio to 3.2 degrees of Sagittarius. Gandanta is a very well placed knot at the end of a rope and represents karma that we must unravel before we move on to the next cycle. Jupiter was in this dangerous zone in April, and when he crossed over into Sagittarius and went retrograde was when we had the fire at the cathedral of Notre Dame, and lots of flooding here in the US in the springtime. As Jupiter expands anything he comes into contact with, once he goes into Sagittarius he will join Saturn, Pluto and Ketu, and this will certainly blow up all of that tension. As we are preparing for the eclipse of the century on December 26th with seven planets in Sagittarius, we can certainly feel the rumblings now.
October 23rd-Mars is in Virgo and combust the Sun
Mars is a sign behind the Sun but is within the degree orb to make it still combust the Sun. We just have to really be careful of our anger at this time, and our health as Mars in Virgo indicates disease. The flu season has already started in the northern hemisphere, and we can expect this winter to get worse. Make sure you are resting enough, as sleep is the best medicine.
October 24th-Mercury goes into Scorpio
Mercury goes into Scorpio, which is a sign he quite likes as this is a great placement for doing research and study into topics that require deep thought. On this day he joins Jupiter in Scorpio who is in the gandanta zone and drowning, so I feel Mercury coming along and helping out will give Jupiter some moral support. These two planets get along, and they will both be direct for 8 days until Mercury goes retrograde On October 31st. Take advantage of this time to get some work done on projects that require investigative skills.
October 27th, 11:38pm EST-New Moon: 10 degrees Libra, Swati
This October New Moon takes place at 11:40 PM EST at 10 degrees of Libra in the nakshatra of Swati. This nakshatra means the sword or independence and spans from 6.4 to 20 degrees of Libra. The symbol is a young sprout swaying in the wind, which is the paisley motif, or coral swaying in the ocean waves. The deity is Vayu, the wind god, and the star that belongs to this nakshatra is Arcturus, which is situated in the left knee of the Boötes constellation. This star gives riches, renown, prosperity, success in the Fine Arts and self-determination. People with this nakshatra prominent in their birth chart often times are leading artists.
The mythology is about Vayu who was the purifier that represented the pranayama or sacred breath that sustained all life. The goddess Sarasvati is also associated with this nakshatra, and she is the goddess of learning education, and the arts. Natives with this placement strongly placed in their chart will excel in the fields of music, literature and art, and financial and business successes are parts of their gifts. They are blessed with the art of communication, knowing how to reveal their knowledge and interest, and are curious it eager to learn more. Their ability to ride with the wind makes them extremely flexible and vulnerable, and some are very psychic and intuitive, high strung or possibly shallow. They strive for independence but are always survivors. Swati also translates as the priest, and they are learned in theology, but because of their airy nature they must be careful of a diet causing too much wind, or Vata, in the body.
On this day of the New Moon we have Venus also going into the sign of Scorpio and moving away from the New Moon. This day has the New Moon taking place in the sign of Libra, which is ruled by Venus, this places more emphasis upon Venus’s transit at this time. Venus is joining Mercury and Jupiter already in Scorpio, and as they are all three benefic planets this forms a Sarasvati yoga. Being that Sarasvati is the deity that rules Swati where the New Moon is, I feel this is an excellent time for music, parties, and the arts in general. We also have Uranus retrograde in Aries opposed this New Moon where it has been for some time. Aries is ruled by Mars so there could be a possibility for car accidents at this time, especially if it takes place in your 3rd, 4th or 9th houses. On a global scale this opposition could translate as warfare cropping up at a time when people are trying to focus on peace. Uranus always brings sudden things such as a lightning strike, so the weather at this time could prove to be anything but peaceful.
October 27th-Venus goes into Scorpio
Venus will be in the deeply emotional sign of Scorpio from October 27th-November 21st. She is joining Mercury and Jupiter to form a Sarawati Yoga. Sarawati is the goddess of learning, and this combination of planets when you have 3 benefics together denotes intelligence, and talents in music, speaking and writing. The requirements for this yoga are three benefics, Mercury, Venus and Jupiter to be in conjunction, kendras, trikonals or the 2nd house and all three strong. This is an excellent time for study , and also to meet new people in the intellectual field. Concerts, parties, and any gatherings of people will have a vibe of friendship and warmth , and high learning. The sign of Scorpio will allow the intellect to delve deeply into research topics. As Scorpio is ruled by Mars, and Mars in Virgo, this is a very good time for research in the health and Wellness fields.
October 31st-Mercury Goes Retrograde, 3 degrees Scorpio, Anuradha
On this day Mercury goes retrograde at 3 degrees of Scorpio, in Anuradha nakshatra until November 19th. On November 7th it goes back into the sign of Libra, it goes direct on November 20th, and then finally enters back into the sign of Scorpio on December 5th. During this retrograde Mercury will be conjunct Mars from November 10th to December 5th. When Mars and Mercury are together this is called the “lawyer yoga”, and it is good for a sharp tongue that speaks the truth quickly, but we have to be careful not to put our foot in our mouth. This nakshatra is ruled by Saturn, and transit Saturn is sitting with Pluto and Ketu still, but will be entering Capricorn in January. Saturn is in Sagittarius still ruled by Jupiter, and transit Jupiter is gandanta at 29 degrees of Scorpio. While Mercury is still retrograde Jupiter will enter the sign of Sagittarius which he rules on November 4th. This does not bode well for traveling at this time, and actually until the end of the year things will be a little treacherous. If you have to travel make sure that you have all of your documents in order, your Phone updated, and all forms of media and communication taken care of.
