This month we have a lot going on starting with Mercury retrograde; a Saraswati yoga with Mercury, Venus and Jupiter in Scorpio; Jupiter going into Sagittarius on the 4th; a parivartana yoga between Venus and Mars; a Venus and Jupiter conjunction; and both New and Full Moons are in Mars’ signs, Aries and Scorpio. The planets are shifting into Sagittarius where there will be a 7-planet conjunction at the end of December. Use this month to prepare!

November 1st-Mercury Retrograde: 3 degrees Scorpio
We start off the month with a bang, or maybe a boomerang, with Mercury going retrograde for the last time this year until the 21st. He will station at 3 degrees Scorpio actually at noon EST on October 31st, but November 1st in Europe and further east. He is still in a Saraswati yoga with Venus and Jupiter until the 5th, so this may mitigate some of the negative qualities of this transit. Remember to not blame the grahas, or the planets, on problems when they are retrograde; they are merely pointing out our weaknesses that we need to level up. So, get your media and communications in order so that this time can be spent on reflecting upon the work done thus far; retrograde periods are: reflect-review-release. So, it’s a blessing in disguise.

November 1st-20th Mercury is combust the Sun
Mercury is combust the most, so when he’s retrograde, we can expect even more erratic activity from our Sun. When we have solar flares that are Earth directed then the consequent CME or geomagnetic storm will disrupt our satellites and electric grid. The KP Index goes up and that is not good for health; it can trigger a heart attack, or mental issues like anxiety and depression. Geomagnetic storms can also produce lovely shows of color at our poles, so the Aurora Borealis could be beautiful during this time.

November 4th-Jupiter goes into Sagittarius
Jupiter goes into Sagittarius at 7:30pm EST on the 4th; he briefly went into this fire sign back in April, and the day we went retrograde the Cathedral of Notre Dame burned. This time he will be here until April 2020 when he goes into Capricorn.

Jupiter has been gandanta in Scorpio/Sagittarius since October 17th; gandanta is the karma that we must unravel before we go to the next cycle. As Jupiter is Guru and Sagittarius is the sign of religions and belief systems, and he is conjunct Saturn, Ketu and Pluto we see that the collective is facing its fears of losing their religion. We’ve already seen the scandals of the Catholic church, but other institutions such as governments will be going through a major overhaul. We only have to look to the revolution currently taking place in Lebanon to see this playing out; they are also experiencing the forest fires that are plaguing their mountains, as well as in California, to see how this fire sign is burning down all things that are unstable in its path. Here are some major themes of this time:

a. Extreme weather and flooding

b. Emotions are out of control

c. Political and religious fanaticism is rampant worldwide

d. Old paradigms are threatened, transformation coming

e. Major threats to political leaders

November 7th-Mercury is retrograde and goes back into Libra
At 5:30 EST on the 7thMercury goes back into the sign of Libra where he will remain until December 5th. Themes from the last few months when he was there from September 29th until October 24th will come up again at this time. At this time he will join the Sun, then on the 10th Mars will join them until the 17thwhen the Sun goes into Scorpio. As Libra is the sign of beauty and rules the fashion industry, we could see some innovative things being launched that had been worked on in the months prior. On a personal level we need to review how we communicate with our partners and business associates; remember, if your ego isn’t your amigo then you know it stinks! Focus on communicating from the heart, not the mind, at this time.

November 10th-21st-Parivartana yoga between Mars in Libra and Venus in Scorpio
When two planets are in each other’s signs it’s called a parivartana yoga. Right now, we have Mars in Libra, and Venus in Scorpio; this is a very sultry and passionate sign exchange, and people born with this combination in their chart are heartthrobs and heartbreakers. This lasts until November 21stwhen Venus goes into Sagittarius.

November 11th-Mars goes into Libra
On the 11th we have Mars going into the air sign of Libra until December 25th. As Libra is the sign of peace, I am hoping that the world leaders use this time wisely to be proactive towards peaceful resolutions to conflicts. This places Mars opposite Uranus retrograde in Aries, and does not bode well for travel, and accidents and sudden anger is an expression of this aspect. On December 26th we have the Eclipse of the Century when 7 planets join together in Sagittarius, and Mars will go into its own sign of Scorpio the day before; this is 12 places away from the eclipse, and Mars is the enemy that we can’t see behind our backs. That will be a treacherous time, so until then use this Libran energy to communicate better; Mercury will be there helping Mars until the 5th, so let him teach you to speak from the heart towards peace, love and understanding. While Mars is in parivartana yoga with Venus from the 10th to the 21st it’s an excellent time for romance!

November 12th, 8:33am EST-Full Frosty Moon, 25 degrees of Aries, Bharani

This November Full Frosty Moon is in the sign of Aries and the nakshatra of Bharani, which is from 13.20 to 26.40 degrees of Aries. Bharani means “the bearer” of new life, and its symbol is the yoni, the female organ for reproduction; Venus is the ruler of this nakshatra. The deity is Yama, the god of death or dharma. The star that corresponds to this nakshatra is Almach, a binary star in the left foot of Andromeda; it gives honor and artistic ability. Another star that is associated with this nakshatra is Menkar, which is in the jaw of the Whale; it indicates disgrace, dishonor and trouble with legacies. This part of the sky was called “Apabharani”, which means “the waters that carry things away” and refers to all of the souls that transit here when they die. Yama is like Pluto in that he carries the dead to the Other World. Yama was the first to come to Earth, and hence the first to die here. This nakshatra is known as the “Star of Restraint”, and when prominent in a chart shows struggles, but if obstacles are overcome it leads to personal breakthroughs and transformations. It is representative of the birthing process and shows where one has outgrown their present circumstances and must go through the pain of birthing a new life.

As Yama was the first to come to Earth this nakshatra denotes individuals who are pioneers in their fields; social reformers, activists, and philosophers are found here. When in a natal chart this nakshatra can lead to jealousy, and often others are jealous of those with Bharani nakshatra. These people feel oppressed by restrictive laws and want to rebel; fanaticism and intolerance of different opinions is the negative side of this nakshatra as they want to oppress others, as well as imbalances in sexuality.

In Persian astrology different planets are associated with each star depending on what part of the constellation they are in. For Bharani we have:

Menkar-Mars, Saturn, Mercury

Almach-Mars
On this day of the Full Moon we have Uranus retrograde conjunct it; this can lead to sudden insights into things buried deep within our psyche. Opposite the Moon we have the Sun, Mars and Mercury retrograde all in Libra. As Aries is ruled by Mars the soldier and transit Mars is in the sign of peace, I am hoping that peaceful ways to protest are not met with violence. Panic can spread like wildfire, and we have already see the protests in Hong Kong become violent, and now Lebanon is having a revolution for change in their government. On a personal level having Mars oppose the Moon indicates a boon of money, but with Mercury retrograde conjunct Mars it could mean a big loss of money; don’t panic and make a bad deal and think things through. As Venus is the ruler of this nakshatra we see that she is making the difficult 6/8 quincunx aspect to the Full Moon. Venus is in Scorpio ruled by Mars, and Mars is in Libra ruled by Venus; this is a parivartana yoga and shows that this will be a very steamy and romantic time! Sexual magnetism is strong now, and with the energy of the Full Moon it certainly has all of the makings for love. Just be prepared if your love interest isn’t responding quickly; Mercury is still retrograde and can confuse things. Text messages might not get sent, or invitations lost in the mail; give people the benefit of the doubt and follow up if no reply is given. Chances are they didn’t get or see the message. Jupiter/Saturn/Pluto/Ketu are all in the fire sign of Sagittarius making a trine to this Full Moon; breaking down old beliefs, and even old technology, might be a theme. Now that we have Jupiter conjunct Ketu fires might be bad at this time.

November 17th-Sun goes into Scorpio
The Sun leaves its sign of debilitation in Libra to go to the water sign of Scorpio. Happy birthday, Scorpios! This is an improvement for the Sun, as he is now in a sign ruled by Mars; the Sun is exalted in Aries, which is ruled by Mars, so now the Sun can do his job better, which is to shine a flashlight onto wherever he sits. On this day he will join Venus who is at the end of Scorpio, but far enough away to not be combust; this will last until the 21st when Venus goes into Sagittarius. Mercury will join him on December 5th, and then by the 26th they will all go into Sagittarius to make the 7-planet alignment for the Eclipse of the Century. This is the calm before the storm, so use this time wisely.

November 17th-December 1st-Kala Sarpa Yoga
On November 17th the Moon will be in Gemini and conjunct Rahu; until the first of December the Moon will be traveling to Sagittarius, and this puts all of the traditional Vedic planets between Rahu and Ketu (this excludes the outer planets). This is called a Kala Sarpa Yoga, and means Time Serpent Connection. Things that happen during this time have a fated quality, and seeing that we are leading up to the Eclipse on December 26th, I’d say we may have a foreshadowing at this time.

As this transit is about Rahu and Ketu as bookends to the planets, let’s look at where they are transiting. Rahu has been in Gemini since March, and is ruled by Mercury. Transit Mercury is is currently retrograde in the sign of Libra, ruled by Venus. Venus is in Scorpio and in a parivartana yoga with Mars in Libra, meaning they are exchanging each other’s signs. As Rahu is the open mouth that can’t stop consuming and indicates our destiny in this life I interpret this as us on a personal level reviewing past loves, and analyzing our current relationships. Rahu is also currently in the nakshatra of Ardra, and the symbol is the teardrop; perhaps we are reviewing our past heartbreaks with the focus of not repeating that pattern, but creating a new way to relate.

Transit Ketu is the other end of this yoga, and it is in Sagittarius since March and conjunct Saturn and Pluto, and recently Jupiter has come into this sign. This has been a very heavy alignment this year, and it is breaking down the old; our fears are being triggered, as it is easier to cling onto what is in front of us even if it isn’t healthy. The ruler of Sagittarius is Jupiter, so having him in his own sign is putting the emphasis on our beliefs, religions, and in particular spiritual and government leaders, as well. The perfect example of this energy was when the Cathedral of Notre Dame burnt; that was the day that Jupiter went retrograde after just entering the sign of Sagittarius back in April. The church is the symbol of the old paradigm that must transform or be burnt down to make way for a new way. Ketu is in Purva Ashada nakshatra right now, which means “the latter unconquered”; it indicates war, but as it is ruled by Venus this can indicate a romantic conquest. Seeing that Venus is in that parivartana yoga with Mars I would say that focusing on love is the way out of all of these conflicts, both personally and globally. It’s not some hippy dippy airy fairy fluff; love is the only way to deal with these aggressive human tendencies. Think where humanity will be in 100 years, or 1,000 years from now; think back to where we were 100 or 1,000 years ago. Our ancestors would not believe the lifestyles we have now! Ketu is showing us what must go in order for us to grow.

November 20th-Mercury Direct: 17 degrees Libra
We can all now breathe a sigh of relief that Mercury is going direct just in time for the holidays! Now you can get your shopping done and you may even get those cards into the mail on time! It’s all steam ahead until the end of this year. Mars is still conjunct Mercury today until December 5th he goes into Scorpio; even though Mercury and Mars are enemies, this is the “lawyer yoga” that uses this tension to get litigation done, so if Mercury retrograde threw a monkey wrench into your law proceedings, real estate, or words of any kind you should get some relief now. Money that is owed to you may come through now, especially with Venus only two places away, and Jupiter in his own sign. as Mars is sitting with Mercury we should pay attention to the Parivartana yoga is in with Venus; this ramps up the passion and is very good for romance! If things were delayed to see your significant other, then you may get the green light to travel now. We are still in a Kala Sarpa yoga right now with all of the planets between Rahu and Ketu, which indicates that things that happen until December 1st have a fated quality.

November 21st-Venus goes into Sagittarius
Venus goes from the water sign of Scorpio where the Sun is and steps away into the fire sign of Sagittarius. She will join Jupiter, Saturn, Ketu and Pluto who are all in Sagittarius already. Venus in this fire sign is independent and likes to have an intellectual rapport with its mate; the need to roam is strong so don’t fence these people in if its in the birth chart. Focus on travel, philosophy and art are great ways to use this energy best. Enjoy it now, because from today until the end of the year the energy will be ramping up for the Annular Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius on December 26th.

November 23rd Venus and Jupiter conjunction in Sagittarius
The two Gurus are conjunct today, but they are natural enemies. As the teachers of their planetary camps they naturally don’t get along. As both planets rule the things that money can buy, and Jupiter loves food, Venus will only make that food more decadent. This is not a day to diet! Try focusing on healthy options like lots of fruit and grill out things like salmon and vegetables; Jupiter likes to expand, so make a lot and invite your friends. This is an excellent time also to study philosophy, so pick up those books you’ve put away and get cracking! Romance is also an expression of this energy, so if you’re a Gemini or Sagittarius ascendant then this could bring you a lot of joy and pleasure.

November 24th-Mars Opposed Uranus retrograde, 9 degrees Aries/Libra
On this day Mars is making an exact opposition to Uranus retrograde at 9 degrees of Aries/Libra. This aspect can indicate big earthquakes, terrorism, and especially as Mars is conjunct Mercury and the Moon it can indicate problems with cars and travel in general. Real estate prices and the stock market could fluctuate wildly at this time. Currently in the US we have a Seller’s Market, meaning there are more buyers than houses to go around at this time; an aspect like this could make the prices go up even more.

November 26th, 10:06am EST-New Moon, 9 degrees of Scorpio, Anuradha

This November New Moon takes place at 9 degrees in the sign of Scorpio in the nakshatra of Anuradha. This spans from 3.20 to 16.40 degrees of Scorpio and means “the disciple of the divine spark”; the planetary ruler of Anuradha is Saturn. The symbol is a triumphal archway, or a lotus. The deity is Mitra as one of the Aditiyas who is responsible for friendship and partnership. The stars that rule this nakshatra are the three stars in the body of the Scorpio. The star Isidis is situated in the right claw of the Scorpion, and gives shamelessness and immortality, and has mystical interests, such as astrology. In Persian astrology Isidis is ruled by the planet Mars.

In mythology Mitra was the god of friendship and promoted cooperation in humanity; any contracts were Mitra’s duty to protect, as he rules compassion, devotion and love. Radha (the cowherd maiden) was the friend and consort of Lord Krishna, and she was also Mitra’s devoted companion as a devotee follower. People with this nakshatra strong are great friends; they just have a natural talent for friendship and are the opposite of the elitist snob. As they have excellent organization and leadership skills they do very well with large groups of people, and as they are naturally friendly their cooperation can lead them to fame and recognition. Their gift is at adapting and accommodating themselves to others’ needs, which makes them very sensual, loving, and popular. The negative side of this nakshatra is jealousy and a need to control others, as they are very faithful; this can lead to depression and a brooding demeanor. It is said that those with this nakshatra prevalent in their chart will have difficult relationships with their mother, and they have been known to live far from their birthplace, as they will have many opportunities to travel.

On this day of the Scorpio New Moon we have Mars, the ruler of Scorpio, situated in the sign of Libra 12 places away. The brewing of enemies from behind that you can’t see is starting now, as the ruler of Libra, Venus, is in Sagittarius with four other planets. Peace talks might be failing at this time, as Saturn is the ruler of Anuradha and is sitting with Venus in Sagittarius with Ketu and Pluto. Whew! This is a lot of tension, and we are building the energy towards the Annular Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius on December 26th. Try to lay low until well into the new year, as unforeseen attacks are an expression of this energy. You could even be sued by enemies that you hadn’t seen or prepared for at this time, as Mercury is sitting with Mars. Rahu is making the difficult 6/8 quincunx aspect to the New Moon today, so be careful with short distance travel.

November 27th-Neptune Direct: 21 degrees Aquarius
Neptune has been retrograde since June 21st at 24 degrees Aquarius. He is the indicator or illusion and deception, lies and deceit, as well as hurricanes, oil, films and all glamor. I personally noticed that I have problems with my video editing software as soon as he went retrograde, so issues with film and photography will be solved at that time. As Neptune shows us where the deception lies when he is retrograde it’s like the curtain is being drawn and we see the puppet master pulling the strings. Many global deceptions were revealed when we had several planets in Leo opposite Neptune in September; Hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas and East Coast of the US at that time, and we also saw Iran light the Saudi oil fields on fire the next week. Now that he is going direct, we may get the truth revealed in regard to issues that came up during his retrograde phase.

November 28th-Venus and Jupiter form a Shuba Kartari Yoga around the Moon
The two benefic gurus, Venus and Jupiter, are surrounding the Moon today. This is a great day to get married! The start of any new business or school is auspicious. In the sign of Sagittarius shows an inclination to study philosophy, or art; we may want to spend time with our teachers.

November 30th-Saturn and Ketu form a Papa Kartari Yoga around the Moon
The two planets of loss, Saturn and Ketu, surround the Moon today. This is a rather depressing energy, so if you’re feeling low just know that it’s not just you. We are being forced to let go, let go, let go of all that does not serve us. In the sign of Sagittarius, it may be asking us to let go of some belief that we had, and it may indicate growing beyond a certain teaching or teachers. Cry it out, but don’t unpack and live there; the dawn always returns.
