March 5/6Mercury Retrograde, 5 degrees Pisces (debilitated)

Having Mercury go retrograde in his sign of debilitation, Pisces, means that we’ve really got to ground and center. Remember, retrograde is not always bad, and debilitation is not always bad; it’s when we try to overdo at this time that bad things happen. This would be a good time to not speak too much, as our words could get misunderstood and cause pain to others. This is a great time to meditate, listen to music, and focus on the inward journey. As with any Mercury retrograde we need to review, reflect, and renew, at this time it is critical for our emotional well being. Pisces is horrible at boundaries; they are the fish that have no shell, just pure feeling. Protecting your heart and putting up boundaries is not only necessary at this time, but critical for your survival. Look to what house in your chart is in the sign of Pisces to see what area of life this is affecting.

March 6th: New Moon in Aquarius, Purva Bhadrapada at 11:03am EST

-ruled by Jupiter

-good for teaching, counseling, research

This New Moon takes place in the sign of Aquarius, Purva Bhadrapada nakshatra. This means “the former happy feet” and takes place from 20 degrees of Aquarius to 3.20 degrees of Pisces. The symbol is a sword or two front legs of a funeral cot, or a man with two faces. The deity is Ajaikapada “the one footed goat”, a form of Rudra, the ancient fire dragon. The stars for this nakshatra are in the constellation of Pegasus, the Winged Horse. They are Markab, the star of honors and success but great sorrow; and Scheat, which is the star of literary and poetic ability, but with extreme misfortune. Ajaikapada was the unicorn, related to Rudra god of storms.

We may find some transformation at this time in regards to what house is in Aquarius in our chart. Neptune is in Aquarius right now, so things that were hidden from us will be revealed, plus with Mercury retrograde we will be shown information that was not available to us. This change will help to make a positive difference in the world, as Aquarius is the sign of the humanitarian. As this is a radical nakshatra, be careful of accidents, especially as Jupiter, the ruler of this nakshatra, will be gandanta. Also, because of the two faces of this sign, we may be faced with others’ two-faced behavior; try not to take it personally. We may be faced with a dark side that is being revealed, so try not to get triggered.

March 7thRahu goes into Gemini, and Ketu goes into Sagittarius

*I am making a separate blog post for Rahu/Ketu through the 12 signs

(sidenote-Rahu and Ketu  ALWAYS go backwards from sign to sign)

Here we are, the moment we’ve all been waiting for: the changing of the nodes’ signs! In Vedic astrology the north node of the Moon is called Rahu and symbolizes the material ego with a bottomless pit stomach, the head of the serpent without the body. Ketu is the south node of the Moon, and is the spiritual ego that is a selfless martyr, but can “lose its head” with anger. Rahu is our current life, and Ketu is our past life. The nodes tell us about our karma and destiny. We’ve had Rahu in Cancer and Ketu in Capricorn for the last 18 months, and now for the next 18 months we will have Rahu in Gemini and Ketu in Sagittarius. Rahu in Cancer has shown us women coming into power and being channels for the Divine Feminine to manifest. As Rahu is a shadow planet he shows us what was hidden; we saw this in the rise of indigenous females in the US Congress, and in the “Me, Too” movement which revealed a hidden but pervasive sex culture of abuse towards women. We also had Jupiter in Libra last year, and Venus was in her own sign of Libra for 3 months! All of this feminine energy gave women the courage to speak their minds about hidden things.

Each nakshatra of Rahu in Cancer and its respective ruling planet shows us the flavor of each period of this transit. The first was Ashleisha, ruled by Mercury, who was gandanta, or drowning, during the summer of 2018 which brought inclement weather in the form of hurricanes, tornadoes and wildfires.  Pushya ruled by Saturn showed up as a rise in cults, especially beauty brand cults; at the same time transit Saturn was retrograde in Purva Ashada, which is ruled by Venus, so this revealed powerful women in the beauty industry coming forward. On the positive side of this transit we saw beauty brands helping women such as Senegence, Huda Beauty and Thrive Causemetics make an impact in women’s everyday lives around the globe creating a kind of love frenzy. On the negative side we saw religious cults surrounding love and money (Venus) get busted and exposed during this Saturn transit which included a retrograde period, such as the Sedona Community led by Bentinho Massaro, and the film “Wild, Wild Country” about Bagwan Rajneesh, aka “Osho”, and his commune in Oregon. This is because when Saturn is retrograde we give away our power and authority; in Venus’ nakshatra this is concerning love and money. Then the last nakshatra, Purnavarsu ruled by Jupiter; transit Jupiter was in Libra at the time, highlighting love, peace and feminine power, and then switched to Scorpio, a deeply feminine and creative sign. We had the three phases of women all in a row: the Maiden-Purnavarsu; the Mother-Pushya; and the Crone-Ashleisha, all bringing the wisdom of the Divine Feminine into our lives.

Now we have Rahu going into Gemini so this will shift the energy from the nurturing feminine to media and communications as Gemini is ruled by Mercury.  Rahu is exalted in Gemini; this is what he is here to do, consume!  You’d think that Scorpio would be the most sexual and desirous sign, but oh no my friend.  Gemini is The Curious Prince who wants to taste all of the delicacies that this earthly plane has to offer, and guess what?  That’s what Rahu is here to do, too.  This will be a highly creative time for new ideas, and on the mundane realm you could find yourself with many partners if you’re single, or if married then business partners from foreign lands should come to you with innovative thinking. This will amp up social media even more, so be careful of getting dragged into online fights by your emotions. Use this energy to overhaul your communications in all forms; get a new computer, clean up your old one, get a new website, clean up your speech and the way you speak to others. The first nakshatra it’s in is Purnavarsu, which means “return of the light” and is ruled by Jupiter. Here the same themes mentioned above will be brought forth, but now Jupiter will be entering his own sign of Sagittarius just five days after, and so this will empower this period of Rahu. Use this good energy, as you’re going to need it for later. Then Rahu goes into Ardra, or the “teardrop”. I see this as a dangerous time, as it almost always heralds tragedy. This will be around the time of the eclipses in December, when there will be 7 planets in Sagittarius. Yikes!! Ground and Center.  There is a big chance of a lot of forest fires at that time.  Then Rahu goes into the last nakshatra of Mrigashira, which is ruled by Mars. Transit Mars, Saturn and Jupiter will all be conjunct in Capricorn at that time making the difficult 6/8 quincunx aspect to Rahu.  This is not good.  We are in a big shift globally right now, so focus on what’s important, family, friends, home, and let the small stuff go.  Why?  We can easily get overstimulated during this transit, so use your energy for things that really matter.

Saturn oppose Rahu/Conjunct Ketu on March 7th

On the same day that Rahu and Ketu switch signs we have this very harsh alignment. Saturn is authority and Ketu brings loss and denotes spirituality.

This will portend problems and power struggles with authorities, and many in authority positions will lose power, especially spiritual authority positions. This conjunction will last until February 1, 2020. This may pan out as the fall of the Catholic Church because of sex scandals; the Pope may be asked to resign, as he has been a very controversial figure. We have already seen the rumblings of this conjunction with the fall of the Brazilian indigenous faith healer, John of God, being exposed for various heinous crimes including keeping women hostage for an adoption ring; the scandal was exposed at the end of Rahu in Cancer, so again going back to women’s power being given back. There will be massive corruption exposed; the old traditions are decomposing. As Ketu is an indicator of the past and past lives there will be past injustices brought up for healing. So, all this of this may seem negative, but it is for our ultimate good to know the truth. There will be new discoveries in the fields of medicine and astro-physics. We actually have the perfect cosmic climate for the disclosure of ET…FINALLY!!! What our governments have been hiding from us concerning their own experiences with spacecraft not from this world will be exposed. We may even have a “first contact” scenario; I could see the Eclipse of the Century on December 26th as a great time for this to happen. Buckle your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy ride!

March 15thSun goes into Pisces

This Sun is weak in Pisces and being that Mercury is there retrograde will add to the lack of energy we will be feeling. This is the time to focus on sleep, rejuvenation, and release of the past. Water therapy of all kinds is a great way to focus this energy, whether through swimming or spa treatments. Look to what house is in Pisces to see what area of your life will receive the flashlight of the Sun.

February 21st-May 29th and October 18th-November 21st, 2019Jupiter in Scorpio and Sagittarius is Gandanta

“Gand” means a knot, and “Anta” means the end, so there is a tight knot that must be unraveled within ourselves before we can move onto the next sign. Jupiter is the planet of expansion, and Scorpio is the sign of transformation and digging deep into the dark to bring about growth. Just like the seed must go into the dark fertile soil to sprout, so must we dig deep into the mud to transmute our lives. Gandanta translates as the feeling of drowning, so having expansive Jupiter drown in the mud will literally translate into there being lots of mud. I forsee lots of storms bringing a muddy mess, especially as Jupiter will go retrograde and go over this sensitive spot a few times. When Jupiter is in water signs it brings inclement weather with water, and when he’s in fire signs it brings catastrophes with fire. The first gandanta period is from February 20th-May 30th, then he will go retrograde on April 11th. When he goes direct again on August 12 the gandanta dates will be from October 18th-November 21st. Look to what house is in the sign of Scorpio in your chart to see what area will be receiving this energy.

March 20thFull Worm Super Moon, 9:43pm, 6 degrees Virgo, Uttara Phalguni-

-ruled by the Sun

-good for service, marriage, home improvements, real estate, leadership, and planting

The Full Worm Moon rises the same day as the vernal equinox marking the first day of spring. The last time the full moon and the equinox happened on the same day was in March 2000, and before that March 20, 1981! This is the third and final super moon of 2019, meaning that the Earth is nearly the closest to the Moon as it can get. Being that Jupiter is gandanta creating mud and this is the Full Worm Moon, can you guess it? Lots of mud and worms! Gardens should do very well this year with this energy starting them off.

Uttara Phalguni means “the latter reddish one” and goes from 26.40 Leo to 10 degrees of Virgo. It’s symbol is a bed (four legs), or a hammock. The deity is Aryaman, one of the Adityas, who rules patronage, kindness, and favors; he governs marriage contracts and protects family inheritance. Bhaga and Aryaman are both invoked together. The star that rules this nakshatra is Denebola, which is in the Lion’s tail, and is noble, generous, and gives a quick mind and high honors, but has an association with people of ill reputation. Shiva and Shakti were married under this nakshatra.

As this star is called the “Star of Humanity” and focuses on family and friends, this is a great time to put our energy into caring and loving ways to help others. As Virgo is the healer, now is an auspicious time to try herbal remedies to heal ourselves and our family. Food, flower therapy, and teas are a great way to show others that we care about them! As the Sun is in the compassionate and empathetic sign of Pisces this will enable you to portray those qualities through this Full Moon. They always say a great way to get rid of depression is to focus on and help someone else. It will surely make you realize that there are others with far less than you, and gratitude is the attitude. This also would be a great day to get married, especially as it’s before the upcoming Saturn/Ketu conjunction that will last for months, and Venus is no longer conjunct Saturn. It is a Wednesday, which is ruled by Mercury in Jyotisha, but in the Norse Runes (where we get the names of the week from) it is the rune called Wynn, and the day that is associated with Wednesday is Venus; so there is a hidden Venus aspect to Wednesday that most overlook. Look to what house in your chart is in the sign of Virgo to see what area of life this will affect.

March 23rdMars goes into Taurus

When Mars goes from his sign of exaltation, Aries, to the sign of Taurus we may feel our energy slowing down. We’ve worked hard in Aries, so now it’s time to play. Taurus is work hard/play hard, so if you’ve been applying yourself you may be able to treat yourself now. Mars is the soldier, and he is a bit uncomfortable in Venus’ sign, but it will help us to focus on the softer side of life.  Mars needs to fight for something, and Taurus is very stubborn; don’t let your stubborn ego get you into fights. Look to what house in your chart is in the sign of Taurus, and what houses are ruled by Venus to see where your energy will go. Remember, Mercury is still debilitated and retrograde, so it’s best to keep our opinions to ourselves.

March 29Mercury Direct, 21 degrees Aquarius

Yay!! The day we all love-Mercury goes direct! We are now backed up to the sign of Aquarius and the nakshatra of Purva Badrapada. See what was discussed when Mercury visited this nakshatra from January 18th-28th. You will be revisiting these discussions. As Mercury goes forward we will break new ground on April 16th when he crosses 5 degrees of Pisces where we started his retrograde phase. So, give it a few weeks after the retrograde period to really launch into new things; let things happen naturally. Look to what house is in the sign of Aquarius to see what area of life this transit is affecting.

March 29Jupiter Enters Sagittarius

Jupiter the Guru enters his own moolitrikona sign of Sagittarius.  Jupiter is gandanta (drowning), and since it will be up to 3.2 degrees Sagittarius, and he goes retrograde next month, he will be gandanta until May 30th during the first phase. The second gandanta phase will be October 18th to November 2nd once he gains momentum after going direct.  Storms, flooding basements, car accidents involved inclement weather that we saw with him in Scorpio will all change to fire accidents with Jupiter in this fire sign. Here’s the thing, though: Jupiter will now be joining Saturn and Ketu in Sagittarius, and with this we can see wildfires very clearly, BUT Jupiter as the Great Benefic will definitely help out the severe losses of Saturn/Ketu.  Have a plan in place for you and your family in case of emergencies; get your supplies for your home; and have a Plan B in case you need to evacuate. I can’t stress that enough for those living in California and the US Southwest. Jupiter is the planet of expansion, and when he comes into his own sign he loves to party and eat! Everyone needs to be aware of gaining weight at this time. Jupiter in Sagittarius can also bring gurus into our lives, and enlightened teachings should be prevalent. Just be careful of self-righteous dogma that can stifle learning; holding too tightly to one’s religion and not respecting another’s is a danger now. Look to what house in your chart is in the sign of Sagittarius, and what houses are ruled by Jupiter to see how this transit will affect you.
