The March Full Moon takes place on the 18th at 3:17am EST at 3 degrees of Virgo, Uttara Phalguni. This means “the later reddish one”, and spans from 26.40 degrees of Leo to 10 degrees of Virgo. The symbol for this nakshatra is a bed with four legs, or a hammock. The deity that rules this lunar mansion is Aryaman, who is one of the Adityas, or solar deities. He rules patronage, kindness, and favors. Bhaga, who is the deity of the previous nakshatra, Purva Phalguni, is another Aditya invoked with Aryaman here. This is the “Star of Patronage”, and the fixed star Denebola rules here. It is situated in the Lion constellation’s tail, and brings nobility, generosity, and gives a sharp and clever mind, but can be associated with people of ill repute. Shiva and Shakti (Parvati) were married under this star, and hence it is associated with marriage contracts and protecting family inheritance. Virgo is ruled by Mercury, and Uttara Phalguni is ruled by the Sun, so these two transit planets will be particularly important today.

People born under this star are concerned with friendship, and everything that comes after the marriage, such as community and children. These people often are very fertile and will have many children and be very active in their community to help other children, as well. There is a humanitarian quality here, so often helping the less fortunate is big on the agenda. Happy marriages are seen here, and but these individuals cannot stand to be alone, so they must be careful of codependency. These people can be controlling and stubborn if they are in a codependent relationship, so they should channel their devotion into a higher cause, such as charity work.

This Full Moon is taking place in the 10thhouse of the day for Washington DC, and this is the house of government. As the Star of Patronage, I feel this indicates the US giving more support to the Ukraine war, and the refugees. We are still in a planetary war between Mars and Venus, and when this occurs Mars always loses; oftentimes war occurs when these two planets come together, because Mars wants to fight for the values of Venus. It’s happening in the 2ndhouse of money during the Full Moon, and this shows the stress put upon money and the Dow Jones and cryptocurrency markets.

Notice that the Moon is alone, breaking the Kala Sarpa Yoga we’ve been in temporarily. The Moon does not like to be alone, and especially in the community oriented nakshatra of Uttara Phalguni, so this is a great time to get out and do something social. Don’t just sit at home, even if you’re not feeling energized you can at least go to a park and people watch and soak up the sunshine. On the other hand, don’t stay in a codependent relationship just because you’re afraid of being alone; these issues could come up now.

The big news is that we have just changed nodal signs as of the 16th, so now Rahu is in Aries, and Ketu is in Libra. During the Full Moon, Rahu will be in the 5thhouse and Ketu will be in the 11th house. As the lords of those houses are in a planetary war, this indicates focus put upon helping children and communities affected by the current wars, and the 5th house is the house of gambling, so the markets will be up and down. Historically, when the nodes have been in these signs it was a time of economic hardship. So, now is the time to start spending wisely, and not extravagantly.  Also, don’t panic, because you only lose if you sell when it’s down. Be patient.

The ruler of Virgo is Mercury, and the ascendant for the Full Moon is Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter. Both planets are conjunct today, and in the 3rd house of communications, where transit Neptune has been for some time now. I feel this indicates the impending threat from Russia of a cyber attack on the US, so we should be very vigilant now. The lagna nakshatra is Mula, which is the roots, but this is the most treacherous part of the zodiac and can indicate destruction by fire. However, whenever Neptune and Jupiter are together it indicates floods, and this has been happening already, it may get worse with the Full Moon energy.

Ironically, Mula is also the US birth chart ascendant, and as Pluto is set to have a Pluto return in the US chart; I find this hopeful, but it will take a lot out of us. The US Pluto is at 6:49 degrees of sidereal Capricorn, Uttara Ashada, and will occur on February 14, 2024. We will get close to it in May of 2023, but then Pluto will go retrograde again, and not get to that exact conjunction until Valentine’s Day of 2024. So, this is the lead up to that event. What is Pluto? He is Hades, and Yama, the gods of the underworld. He doesn’t kill you, but once dead he takes you to the other side. Pluto is the power of the small, a virus that can take down the world, or an atom bomb that can do the same. He is hidden things, secret societies, the military, the mafia, or Greek mystery cults of ancient times. He brings transformation, and should not be taken lightly, even though he is so very small. Pluto takes 248 years to go around the Sun, so I find it fascinating that we are the generation that gets to witness this return for the USA.
