June 3rd-Sun & Venus Exact Conjunction, Cazimi
Today Venus retrograde in Taurus, Rohini nakshatra is sitting exactly with the Sun, and this is a special combustion point called cazimi. A planet that is within a degree of the Sun takes on the brilliance of the Sun instead of being overpowered by it. When Venus is combust, she cannot function properly when the Sun is near, and especially Venus does not like to be overshadowed by anyone, but when they are exact it is like a golden opportunity for a brief moment; the door opens, and the negative effects of the combustion are lessened. This is the cazimi effect. Once she crosses this point, she will go out of combustion by the 8th, and then by July 10th will regain her status as the Morning Star. The power and significance of Venus is love, beauty and peace, and being that Venus is retrograde in her own sign this means that relationships and money are being affected, but also our values are being brought into focus. Venus is what we value, and right now we are being brought to our knees with the riots destroying what we value in this country. The truth is that we should be valuing others, relationships, love, and truth, not luxury items. Having Saturn/Jupiter/Pluto retrograde shows the immense fear that is going on right now and putting innocent people through fear is not the way to get our values changed. Rohini nakshatra is ruled by the Moon, and the Moon is in Libra today and it is through Venus’ other sign, Libra, which is love and law, that we get real change; we get change by voting, and changing the laws so that reason is informing authority, not just heated passion.
Venus Retrograde with War & Peace
Venus goes retrograde the least at every 18 months for 4 months at a time, and returns to the same sign every 8 years. I feel that when Venus stations direct at 11:11 degrees of Taurus on June 25th we could see an anchor for a peace treaty concerning the current protests and riots taking place in the US. As the eclipses show where change is happening, we see that Rahu will be at 11:11 degrees Taurus and Ketu will be opposite at 11:11 of Scorpio on September 6, 2021 which will conjunct this degree. I am not sure exactly how it will play out, but we could see a move towards peace and stopping the riots on this day, and when the eclipses cross this Venus retrograde point next year we may see some real change in the form of laws. That being said, I really do not put a lot of weight on treaties, as every single treaty was broken that the US made with the Native Americans.
According to Joni Patry in her book Eastern Astrology for Western Minds (2004) she states that Venus retrogrades cycles historically have been associated with the signing of peace treaties when Venus stationed to go retrograde and direct; it’s the stationing degrees that you want to pay attention to. She says that Saturn seems to solidify the peace the Venus brings, and can be an essential element in the signing of the treaties. Here are the dates that she has researched (Patry, 117):
1) World War I-The Peace Treaty of Versailles, June 28, 1919
a. The treaty was signed when Saturn was in Leo opposite the Venus stationary degree in Aquarius
2) World War II-Yalta Peace Agreement, February 11, 1945
a. The treaty was signed when the Sun was at 27 degrees and Mercury was at 14 degrees of Capricorn; the previous Venus retrograde began at 28 degrees and went direct at 12 degrees of Capricorn.
3) Vietnam War-Paris Peace Accords, January 23, 1973
a. The Paris Peace Accords were signed when Saturn was at 21 degrees of Taurus which conjuncted the previous Venus stationary degree. The bombing continued until August of 1973, and it ended when Saturn was at 8 degrees of Gemini, which was near the degree of the previous Venus stationary direct at 11 degrees.
