June 21st, 2020-New Moon/Annular “Ring of Fire” Solar Eclipse in Sidereal Gemini, Mrigashira Nakshatra
The sidereal zodiac is the “real star” placement of the celestial bodies; so when you look up at the sky with your phone using a sky map, that is the sidereal zodiac. Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, while Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, which pushes the planets and stars forward roughly 23.5 degrees.
Mrigashira Nakshatra
The June 2020 New Moon is also the day of the Annular “Ring of Fire” Solar Eclipse that takes place on June 21st at 2:42am at 6 degrees of Gemini, Mrigashira nakshatra, which means “the head of a deer”. It is an annular eclipse, meaning that the Moon is covering the Sun’s center, leaving the Sun’s visible outer edges to form a “ring of fire” or annulus around the Moon. This lunar mansion spans from 23.2 degrees of Taurus to 6.4 of Gemini, and the symbol is a deer’s head, or an antelope. The deity that rules this nakshatra is Soma, or the Moon god, Chandra, and the stars that belong here are the stars of the Orion constellation. In particular, the star Bellatrix which sits on the left shoulder of Orion rules this nakshatra, and it means “female warrior”, and gives military honors. This is the “Star of Searching”, as Orion is the hunter in the sky. The ruler of Gemini is Mercury, and the planetary ruler of Mrigashira is Mars; in Persian astrology it is Mars and Mercury.
Mythology
The mythology of Mrigashira is about Orion as the sky god Prajapati, who is the world maker. He became obsessed with his beautiful daughter, Rohini, and chased her throughout the night sky, changing forms to maintain speed, and the antelope was his preferred form. Shiva shot an arrow through Prajapati to save Rohini, and he fell to Earth, which destroyed the Oneness of the Universe. As this is the “Star of Searching” people born with this nakshatra prominent in their chart will have large eyes and have the need to constantly search for something. They are restless, and probably have anxiety as a result. They love to collect things and are always on the hunt for next piece to their collections; they can be shopaholics. They are highly intelligent, and make great investigators, and love to delve into mysterious subjects. They are gentle like deer, peaceful and tender; extremely sensual, they can be involved in incestuous relationships, as the myth implies. They love the thrill of the chase and are known to have beautiful children.
Analysis
On this day of the June 2020 New Moon Annular “Ring of Fire” Solar Eclipse in Gemini, we have Mercury retrograde sitting here with them. Rahu is at 5 degrees, and the Sun and Moon are at 6 degrees, and Mercury is at 20 degrees, so Sun/Moon/Mercury are all technically beyond Rahu in the Kala Sarpa Yoga for today. A Kala Sarpa Yoga is the Serpent of Time yoga where all of the planets lie between Rahu and Ketu. In Alan Anand’s book, Kala Sarpa(2018), he states there are four types of configurations for this yoga, and this is the Class 4 “Potential Yoga”, meaning that all of the houses between Rahu and Ketu are occupied (I include the outer planets, he doesn’t), but that either Rahu or Ketu have planets with them that are in a higher or lesser degree of either one, but still in the same sign.

In Sunday’s chart we have all planets conjunct Rahu beyond Rahu’s degree, so this means that these planets are “outsiders” to the Kala Sarpa Yoga. In a way, they are rebels, but they have something to say, especially the retrograde planet, Mercury. I put Washington D.C. as the place for this chart, because I wanted to see how this eclipse would affect the US government. This places Rahu in the 3rdhouse, and Ketu in the 9th house. According to Anand there are 12 types of nagas, or serpents, described in the Vedas, and the one that corresponds to the 3rd house is Vasuki. This type of serpent can be thought of as a “twister” or “churner”, which is capable of twisting a story. He is a gifted orator and interpreter who may manipulate explanations or instructions for his own purposes. The focus is on career, education, social networking, or short distance travel as a means to explore the world (Anand, 74). We will probably see some spinning of stories from our enemies (fucrum: Mars is in the 12th) towards Washington at this time regarding the current pandemic (opposite the fulcrum: Virgo in the 6th). People will also be doing some short distance traveling, as many are out of quarantine now; having Mercury retrograde at the mouth of this serpent means that we could see a rise in infections as a result. As many have been protesting against the murder of George Floyd, we see that Mercury retrograde is giving a voice to past grievances, but also that speaking in public will make the virus spread faster. The Lunar Eclipse of the 5th conjunct the fixed star Antares “The Warrior Star” was the height of the protests against police brutality against the black community, and now two weeks later we will see the result of this in the throat literally, as Venus retrograde is in Taurus which rules the throat, and Mercury retrograde is in Gemini, which rules the lungs. Since Rahu has been in Gemini, we have been intimating at ET disclosure; certainly, this solar eclipse should help reveal this dark agenda. In the US’s birth chart this solar eclipse is taking place in the 7th house, and in mundane astrology this is the opponent. According to Anand this nagas that corresponds to the 7th house is Takshaka, the “carpenter”, a builder who makes grandiose schemes to benefit only himself; this is the toxic contractor. The focus here is upon opportunism, and gaining maximum material benefit from partnerships, oftentimes leaving the other at a loss. This translates into meaning that the US must be careful of making business partnerships with scoundrels; they may be charming and talk all the right talk, but they are looking out for themselves and we will be left with the short end of the stick.
All of the planets are moving towards the head of the serpent, so this means the tail is curling up and ready to pounce. The fulcrum of this Kala Sarpa Yoga is Mars in Pisces, and he rules Mrigashira; he is in the 12th house, indicating foreign lands, and as Mars is the soldier, we could see some aggression from our enemies overseas in the form of information. Mars is in the nakshatra of Purva Bhadrapada, the “Scorching Star”, which is ruled by Jupiter; this is a very passionate and rebellious nakshatra, and the deity is the Unicorn, Ajaikapada, the one-footed goat, a form of Rudra, or Shiva, the god of destruction and creation. The stars of this lunar mansion are Markab, a star of honors and success, but with great sorrow; and Scheat, which gives literary and poetic ability, but with extreme misfortune. Having Mars with these treacherous stars is not good; opposite the fulcrum is the sign of Virgo in the 3rd house of this chart, and this indicates health and healing, and that Mars, the enemy overseas, is attacking our health. For sure the Mercury retrograde eclipse energy is going to reveal to us previously withheld information regarding the coronavirus from our enemies overseas. The sixth house is also the house of enemies, so having Mars opposite here in the 12th house of foreign lands is going to show aggression.
As Jupiter is the dispositor of both of Mars’ transiting signs right now, it places the Saturn/Jupiter/Pluto retrograde conjunction as a star player in this eclipse. It is happening in this chart’s 10th house of career, and in the nakshatra of Uttara Ashada we see that indeed the US government is reviewing things from the past, going over old ground in trying to open up again. The US is in a Sade Sati period now, meaning that transit Saturn is going to conjunct the US birth chart Moon placement in Aquarius, and it brings karmic hardship or liberation; Saturn will conjunct this point when it goes into Aquarius, and the exact date is March 19, 2023. The Venus retrograde is happening in the 2nd house of money, and on the Lunar Eclipse two weeks prior that Dow Jones Industrial Average made an unexpected almost 1,000 pt gain going up to almost 28,000, so who knows what will happen today, but it will probably be unexpected. The lagna of this chart is also Aries, Bharani nakshatra which is ruled by the god Yama, who rules death; we are still dealing with a lot of deaths from this health crisis, and ruled by Mars we see Mars is at the fulcrum in the 12th house which also indicates death. Bharani has as it’s symbol the yoni, so this is the female reproductive organ that brings new life into the world; we are birthing a new world right now coming out of this pandemic, and this eclipse is indicative of this difficult energy of the pain of childbirth. The ruler of Bharani is Venus, so having her retrograde in her own sign of Taurus I feel will actually be beneficial, as the slower energy places more emphasis upon what this graha symbolizes, which is peace, love, understanding, luxuries, and the Divine Feminine. Be patient as we are birthing this new world, and as this eclipse will take effect for the next six months try to realize the pain you are feeling is experienced by the collective as we let go of dark agendas that no longer serve humanity.
