June 5th, 3:11pm-Full Strawberry Moon Penumbral Lunar Eclipse: 21 degrees Scorpio, Jyeshta

We have this month’s Full Strawberry Moon as also a Lunar Eclipse and takes place at 21 degrees of Scorpio in the nakshatra of Jyeshta, which means “the eldest”. It spans from 16.4 to 30 degrees of Scorpio, and the symbol is a circular amulet, an umbrella, or an earring. The deity that rules this lunar mansion is Indra, the chief of the gods. This is the “Star of Protection” and the star that belongs to this nakshatra is Antares, which is situated in the heart of the Scorpion constellation and is considered a rival of Mars. It gives military and political powers and success, but also sudden losses can occur with this fixed star. The planet that rules Jyeshta is Mercury, and in Persian astrology it is the planets Mars and Jupiter.
The mythology of Jyeshta is about her as the eldest of 27 sisters who felt betrayed and jealous when her husband Soma favored her younger sister, Rohini, and spent more time with her. Soma is the Moon and the 27 sisters are the nakshatras as his wives, and as he is exalted in Taurus, he spends more time there and makes the others jealous. There are feelings of betrayal and abandonments in this myth, and people that have this nakshatra prominent in their chart will have a sense of superiority and entitlement, but they are also very protective of their loved ones. Low self esteem can be seen with this placement, and they can become arrogant and hypocritical of themselves and others. As the eldest they know how to deal with power and authority, and their lives can become difficult with hardship and poverty. They prefer to be alone, and do not make friends easily as they are not very trusting, but once they let you in, you are in for life. They have exceptionally good minds for investigation, and love to study occult subjects.
On this day of the Full Strawberry Moon/Lunar Eclipse we have the Moon in Scorpio ruled by Mars, and in the nakshatra of Jyeshta ruled by Mercury. The Sun is opposite in Taurus, Rohini nakshatra, and Venus retrograde is conjunct. Rahu is still in Gemini, Mrigashira nakshatra and Mercury is conjunct, and Ketu is opposite all alone still in Sagittarius, Mula. Saturn, Jupiter, and Pluto are also retrograde, all in Capricorn. The energy feels very heavy today, and image that comes to mind is a machine that is starting up again after being dormant for some time. Eclipses are shadow points, so they reveal to us hidden things we did not see before. As Mars rules machines and real estate, I feel this lunar eclipse is pointing to an economic depression or recession are economies around the world are trying to start back up after the COVID-19 pandemic. Mars is conjunct Neptune, and this indicates that the economy, especially oil, is the focus and that oil prices could rise, or fall dramatically with this. We will find out the deceptions of militaries and military leaders with this alignment, as well. As we have so many planets retrograde at Mars’ back, I feel that it is going to be a struggle during this time to get the energy moving again. Also, recently the murder of an innocent black man in Minneapolis, George Floyd, has literally lit the nation on fire, and this lunar eclipse conjunct Antares is showing that we are at war not only with the coronavirus, but we are in a civil war with another virus, racism. Luckily, Venus is in her own sign and even though she is also retrograde I feel that this will help the economy and mitigate some of the negative influences. There is a desperation in the air that Jyeshta brings, and also personal wounds surrounding love betrayals and disappointments will come front and center right now. Certainly, in the US we are all feeling betrayed by our police departments that refuse to recognize everyone’s rights by getting rid of officers with a history of violence. We are in a Kala Sarpa Yoga right now, except for the Moon which is the only outlying planet right now; the rest of the planets are between Rahu and Ketu. Mars is giving his 4th aspect to Venus retrograde so for sure we are going to have old flames come back for rekindling or closure.
