Mars in Sidereal Pisces
The sidereal zodiac is the “real star” placement of the celestial bodies; so, when you look up at the sky with your phone using a sky map app that is the sidereal zodiac. Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, while Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, which pushes the planets and stars forward roughly 23.5 degrees. Mars will be in sidereal Pisces starting on June 18th at 10:45 am EST until August 16th at 8:59 am EST.
Transit Analysis
Today Mars goes into the water sign of Pisces and steps away from Neptune; selfless love is the name of the game with this placement. This places him at the fulcrum of the Kala Sarpa Yoga, and this means that the energy of this yoga is definitely turning into a dosha, or a negative side of this transit. Mars is in Jupiter’s sign and while he likes Jupiter, he cannot necessarily do the best work here; Mars is the soldier and in Pisces he is weak. Jupiter is retrograde right now and still in the fire sign of Sagittarius with Saturn and Pluto both retrograde. Mars rules the military and aggression in general, so we need to be careful of our anger right now. This pandemic is really triggering people’s insecurities, and Mars wants to fight; having him at the middle of this Kala Sarpa Yoga places Virgo as the opposition house, so the focus is on our health and healing. Saturn retrograde is also giving his strongest 3rd aspect to Mars now, so this may help to mitigate some of the violence we are seeing around us at this time.
In the US chart Mars is at 0’40” Gemini, Mrigashira, so when transit Mars moves into Pisces, and particularly on June 19that 12:08pm EST transit Mars will be giving his 4th and strongest aspect to the US Mars, and this is also the US Mars Return. This is a trigger and knowing that Trump is planning his rally in Tulsa on the next day and knowing that Mars in Gemini indicates the lungs will indicate a spike in cases there. Also, Mars is the fulcrum of the upcoming eclipse on the 21st, and as it will be in Purva Bhadrapada the star that rules this lunar mansion is Scheat, which gives literary and poetic ability, but with great misfortune; it is what it sounds like. The US must be careful on this day particularly, and as this nakshatra indicates rebellion and being a radical, if we don’t transform we will succumb to the two-faced quality of this nakshatra; best to review the past in order to move confidently into the future. Transit Saturn retrograde is conjunct the US Pluto retrograde at this time, and as transit Pluto approaches this degree it will take some time for it to be conjunct. The US Pluto Return is February 22, 2024, so it will be probably take that long for the US to complete this social transformation in their 11thhouse.

Mars in Pisces 2020 Through the Nakshatras
Mars in Purva Bhadrapada nakshatra, June 18th-23rd
Planetary ruler : Jupiter; transit Jupiter is retrograde in Capricorn
Mars has been in this nakshatra since June 3rd, and we can feel it in the social activism that is currently taking place worldwide, especially since the end of May. On May 25th George Floyd was murdered in Minneapolis, and since then Mars the soldier has been sitting with Neptune who is the Great Dissolver and Deceiver. Certainly, our society is dissolving and we are being shown deceitful behavior from the past that is holding us back as a civilization. The peaceful protests have been the positive side of this nakshatra, while the riots and looting are the negative side. We can expect this to be the trend until June 23rd.
Mars in Uttara Bhadrapada nakshatra, June 23rd-July 16th
Planetary ruler: Saturn; transit Saturn is retrograde in Capricorn
This nakshatra is the “serpent of the deep”, as the deity Ahir Bhudyana rules this lunar mansion; this is an intelligent nakshatra with great eloquence, and a mature, responsible nature. On this day Neptune goes retrograde, and as Neptune has a very similar energy to this nakshatra I do believe that lies and deceit from the past regarding Mars, which is the soldier and the military, and also violence, will be forthcoming. This nakshatra indicates the kind of isolation that comes only in the depths of the ocean, so I feel we will be thrown back into more isolation because of the virus.
Mars in Revati nakshatra, July 16th-August 16th
Planetary ruler: Mercury; transit Mercury is Gemini & Cancer, gandanta
On this day the Sun goes into Cancer and breaks the Kala Sarpa yoga; this will take some pressure off of Mars, as he’s been at the fulcrum. Revati is ruled by the deity Pushan who is the shepherd; and as the ruler Mercury goes into Cancer on August 1stwe will feel more protective and nurturing of our flock; cooking and feeding others with art, music or poetry will be a great way to express this energy. As Mars rules physical activity when it’s in Cancer we will want to swim or do water sports of any kind; as many public pools across the US have been closed this summer due to the pandemic I think people will find creative ways to stay cool! This nakshatra is the epitome of Pisces’ selfless love, so our hearts will be activated at this time to help others and do good, especially when Mercury is gandanta from August 15th-18th.
