July 2020 New Moon in Washington, DC

On July 20th at 1:33pm EST we have the New Moon at 4.2 degrees of sidereal Cancer in the nakshatra of Pushya, which means “to nourish”. It spans from 3.2 to 16.4 degrees of Cancer, and the symbol is a cow’s udder, which provides nourishment in the form of milk, a lotus, an arrow, and a circle. The deity that rules this lunar mansion is Brihaspati, or Jupiter, the guru of the devas planetary camp, or angels. This is the “Star of Nourishment”, and the stars that rule this nakshatra are the three brightest stars of the constellation of Cancer, North and South Asellus, and Acubens; the Aselluses give care and sustenance. Cancer is ruled by the Moon, and Pushya is ruled by Saturn. In Persian astrology the Asellus stars are ruled by Saturn and Mercury, but as this is taking place much closer at 4.2 degrees to Pollux, it is associated with Mars.

The Mythology of Pushya Nakshatra

The mythology is about Brihaspati as the teacher of the gods and was lord of oration and meditation; Lord Shiva made him into the planet Jupiter. The story goes that Brihaspati had his wife, Tara, stolen by Soma, who is the Moon. The result of this affair was Budh, or the planet Mercury, and Jupiter was enchanted by him and it softened his heart, and so he took care of him as his own. People born with this nakshatra prominent in their chart will be deeply religious, devotional, but can be traditional in their approach to their spiritual beliefs. Being in the rashi sign of Cancer they are very devoted to their families. They love to follow the rules, are very moral, and have an arrogance about them as they think others should think the way they do. Cancer can be very insecure, and the belief that others should think and act as they do shows that they must instill in others their beliefs to make sure they are right. These people have opulent wealth, but this insecurity inside themselves causes overeating and weight gain is a problem. As Jupiter is Guru these people often tend to be teachers, preachers, or professors.

Analysis-Sun/Moon and Saturn Retrograde Exact Opposition

On this July 2020 New Moon day, we have the Sun and the Moon conjunct at 4.2 degrees of sidereal Cancer in the nakshatra of Pushya, the King of the Nakshatras, “The Star of Nourishment”. Brihaspati is the deity of this lunar mansion, but the Sun god Savitur is also associated with this, and the gayatri mantra, as well as the Sun salutation in hatha yoga. The goddess Laxmi was born in this nakshatra as she stays here longer, so it is associated with wealth. Traditionally the stars Asellus Borealis and Asellus Australis are associated with this nakshatra, but since the Moon is at 4.2 degrees of Cancer it is the star Pollux that is much closer at this time. He is the mortal twin of the Gemini stars, Castor and Pollux, and he is known for fighting, and has a fierce vengeful personality. Pollux has the nature of Mars, and as you can see the color of this star is red.

Sun conjunct Pollux: Occult and theosophical interests, blows, stabs, serious accidents, shooting, shipwreck, murderer or murdered, extreme sickness and diseases, fevers, ailments affecting the stomach, homosexual, riches and honor but final ruin, blindness, injuries to head and face, quarrels, rape committed or suffered, banishment, imprisonment for embezzling, violent death, decapitation. [1]

Brutal and tyrannical, violent and cruel. [2]

Moon conjunct Pollux: Hatred of the vulgar, ill-will of women, danger from thieves, violent death, power, pride, sickness, calamity, wounds, imprisonment, injuries to face, defective sight or blindness especially if Mars or the Sun be in square from Aries. If Mars or the Sun be in square from Libra, danger of accidents and legal or matrimonial troubles but, if in opposition from Capricorn, danger to the mother’s honor and reputation. If Mars be in conjunction, death by suffocation, drowning or assassination. If Mars be with Arcturus in the 1st or 7th, 9th, 10th, 11th, houses, death by suffocation. [1]

Brutal and tyrannical, violent and cruel. [2]

The Fixed Star Pollux

Kala Sarpa Yoga/Dosha is over!  The Sun is now in Cancer, and as Saturn is the planetary ruler of Pushya we look to transit Saturn, and he is in his own sign of Capricorn, Uttara Ashada, which is ruled by the Sun.  Cancer is ruled by the Moon, and transit Moon is sitting with the Sun today. We have Saturn retrograde and in opposition to the Sun and Moon. We also had the Comet Neowise appear in the constellation of Cancer, and comets usually portend the downfall of leaders. This all shows danger for those in power, authority, and governments. So far in the US presidential elections we have Biden showing a lead, but Trump is the president. So, which leader is this indicating? When planets are in Uttara Ashada it gives favor to the Republicans, as their symbol is the elephant, and Ganesha rules this nakshatra. This New Moon is taking place in the US chart’s 8th house of death/transformation and conjunct Mercury retrograde; it is taking place in Washington DC’s prashna chart’s 10th house of career; and it is taking place in Donald Trump’s 12th house of foreign lands and hospitals conjunct his Saturn and Venus. As Pollux is cruel, violent and tyrannical and with the Sun and Moon it shows that female warriors will be strong in force, and probably against Trump and his female supporters. The 12th house is also things at your back that you can not see, so there will be a lot of women against the US president at this time. Joe Biden has also had many rape allegations, and this New Moon is taking place in his 9th house of foreign lands and beliefs, and conjunct his Jupiter retrograde; Biden is in his Jupiter dasha cycle, but he has been known for having hateful speech, just as Trump has. I feel that having the US chart’s Mercury retrograde on top of Biden’s Jupiter retrograde will reveal some health issues that have come up before, as his Moon is in his 6th house of health. Let’s not forget the pandemic is still going on, and having Pollux with the New Moon does not bode well for our health, too. One thing is for sure, both leaders will suffer with this New Moon.
