January, 2020

Happy New Year 2020! This is the start of the Roaring Twenties, and one hundred years ago it was 1919. People are also calling this the year of 2020 Vision, as in we are getting clear on our intent. I see this as a very Venusian year, as Rahu will go into Taurus, one of Venus’ signs, in September, and transit Venus will go retrograde in Taurus, as well. We have the game-changing Saturn/Jupiter conjunction in Capricorn that will shift paradigms, and this month the fun begins with Saturn going into his own sign of Capricorn. We have Jupiter and Ketu exactly conjunct at the beginning of the month, and by the end of the month many planets will have shifted into Capricorn, and Mars, Jupiter and Saturn will all be in their own signs by the 24th. This month sets the stage for this year as we have the Full Moon/Penumbral Lunar eclipse in Gemini, Punarvasu, and then the Chinese New Year takes place two weeks later for the New Moon in Capricorn, Shravana nakshatra, and it is the Year of the Metal Rat.

January 8th-Jupiter conjunct Ketu, 14 degrees, Purva Ashada nakshatra

Jupiter went into Sagittarius back on November 4th, and joined Saturn, Ketu and Pluto. There had already been energy brewing for us to let go of old paradigms, and leaders in both religion and politics felt the intensity of this alignment last year. Now that Jupiter is there exactly with Ketu in the sign of Sagittarius means that loss is imminent for leaders, but don’t fret. Once Saturn goes into Capricorn, and then Jupiter by April, the energy will shift back towards those in power. We will be doing this dance all year, but on this day look to a serious loss of power to leaders. On a personal level for a woman you could have a meaningful meeting with a past-life partner, as Purva Ashada is ruled by Venus. Transit Venus is sitting with Neptune, so this is a highly romantic time, as well. As Venus is in the detached sign of Aquarius which is ruled by Saturn, we see that transit Saturn is still in Sagittarius with Ketu, Pluto, Jupiter, and now Mercury and the Sun. Whew! Listen to your gurus today. This is not a day to be full of your ego. Whatever is shown to you will help you to grow. Pay Attention!!!

January 8th-Venus goes into Aquarius

Venus now joins Neptune in Aquarius, Saturn’s sign. She doesn’t operate well here, it makes her rather detached, and she can’t be her normal affectionate self. As Neptune represents our illusions and delusions when Venus comes by it shows us our deceptions in love. This is a good thing, but can be particularly painful depending on how asleep we’ve been. Sun, Mercury, Jupiter and Ketu are all in Purva Ashada, which is ruled by Venus, so this places more emphasis upon her at this time. We may have to let go of old flames, but it’s all for the best.

January 10th-Jupiter ends combustion with the Sun

Whenever Jupiter is within 11 degrees either side of the Sun it is said to be combust. Literally the Sun is stealing Jupiter’s energy astronomically, as it is absorbing the energy the Sun is more likely to produce solar flares, CME’s and geomagnetic storms. Now that Jupiter is outside of the 11 degree orb they both can relax; I see this as political leaders taking a step back and things starting to fizzle out politically.

January 10th- Full Moon/Penumbral Lunar Eclipse: 2:20 pm EST, 25 degrees Gemini, Purnavasu

Today we have the Full Moon/Penumbral Lunar Eclipse at 25 degrees of Gemini in Punarvasu nakshatra. This means “return of the light”, and spans from 20 degrees of Gemini to 3.2 degrees of Cancer; the symbol is a bow and quiver (the case the holds the arrows). The deity that rules this nakshatra is Aditi, the mother of the gods. She was boundless, vast and limitless, and she is the goddess of abundance. The stars that rule this nakshatra are Castor and Pollux, the Gemini Twins; the full meaning is “the two who give back the good”. Castor was the mortal twin known for his skill in horsemanship, and the star suggests intellect, honor and sudden fame, and sometimes followed by sudden loss. Pollux was the immortal twin and was famous for his skill in boxing; this star gives a courageous but cold and heartless nature. The planet that rules Punarvasu is Jupiter; in Persian astrology the planets Mercury and Mars.

The mythology is about the Goddess Aditi who was as vast and limitless as the sky; her ability is the power to gain wealth and abundance. She is the Earth goddess of productivity, and she is known as moral and known for her virtuous and noble acts. She has 12 sons called Aditiyas, and they represent the 12 months of the year, and the 12 sovereign principles. She is known as the protector of children and is worshipped for blessings because of these qualities. This is known as the “Star of Renewal”, as after the dark night of the soul of the nakshatra before this one brings hope just as dawn symbolizes a new day. People born with this nakshatra prominent in their chart often do better the second time around, and have a tendency to bounce back easily after setbacks. There are no boundaries to what they can accomplish, and are very philosophical, spiritual, and inspirational and they have a deep knowing that Jupiter imparts here. These natives love to travel, but they must have a home base to return to or else they lose their center; there is a theme of return and renewal here. These people love to give and it comes back to them in good fortune; people find them charming and fun to be around, and abundance comes easy to them.

On this day of the Full Moon/Penumbral Lunar Eclipse we have the Moon in Punarvasu sitting with Rahu who is in Ardra nakshatra. As Jupiter rules Punarvasu we see that transit Jupiter is sitting conjunct Ketu and opposite almost exactly to transit Rahu. I feel like this will give some hope to us, but it may also expand some tragedies. We’ve been watching this impeachment unfold since the Solar Eclipse two weeks ago, and now a bombing at the US Embassy in Iraq, which led to more conflict between the US and Iran. All of these Sagittarius planets are in the US chart’s first house, so we are definitely feeling the heat here. I looked up the chart of Iran, and at noon their lagna would be Ardra, so isn’t it interesting that it is opposed to the US lagna. Using chandra lagna we see that Iran’s Moon in Taurus will be triggered when Rahu changes signs to Taurus this September. The Jupiter/Ketu conjunction today is really ramping up the radical religious fanatics, and even the arsonists in Australia. These 6 planets in Sagittarius are setting the world on fire, and with Rahu in an air sign opposite it’s just blowing the flames even higher. We also have Venus and Neptune conjunct today, and even the orb is wide this is going to add a dreamy, romantic and delusional quality to the energy of the religious fanatics; be careful of the rose-colored glasses during this transit.

January 13th-Mercury goes into Capricorn, Combust the Sun
Mercury does well in Capricorn, as his best sign is the Earth sign of Virgo, so I feel this will add some stability to our minds and ease some anxiety. This will help to decompress some of that intensity of the Sagittarian party he just left and help us to think more clearly. He is still combust the Sun, but Mercury is combust the Sun the most, so it will mostly affect solar activity.

January 14th-Sun goes into Capricorn
Today the Sun goes into his enemy’s sign of Capricorn, Saturn, where he joins Mercury. As they are in Uttara Ashada nakshatra whose deity is Ganesh, this is a great time to do your Ganesh mantras! Mercury is the planet of communication, so chanting mantras is a great way to express this energy and clear the obstacles on your path to success.

January 24th-Saturn goes into Capricorn, Combust the Sun
This is the big event we’ve been talking about for months, and it’s finally here! Saturn returns to his own sign of Capricorn after 29.5 years, and he is happy to be home. He comes home to find his enemy there, the Sun, but also his friend, Mercury, and the Moon. This will be a year of tremendous growth as Jupiter will join him in this sign in April, but for Jupiter this is a sign of debilitation. I see this as the power shifting back to the establishment, and by the end of the year they will be in charge again. The last time that Saturn was here in this nakshatra was in 1990, and that is when the Gulf War started; by 1991 Jupiter was opposite in Cancer. We now have more unrest in Iraq with the recent bombing of the US Embassy in Baghdad by Iranian protestors that happened on December 31, 2019. I feel that issues that began with the Gulf War will rear it’s ugly head again at this time, but as Saturn is in his own sign he will be empowered, and we may be able to get some closure. The time before 1990 that Saturn was in Capricorn was 1961, Kennedy was president and the economy was booming. We all know what happened by 1963 when President John F. Kennedy was shot in Dallas, Texas. The issues that were suppressed at that time by his death will resurface, and we will see the truth revealed. The time before 1961 that Saturn was in Capricorn was 1931, and the US was in the throws of the Great Depression, and a horrible drought that hit the Midwest.

January 24th, New Moon/Chinese New Year of the Metal Rat: 4:40pm EST, 10 degrees Capricorn, Shravana

Today is the New Moon and Chinese New Year of the Metal Rat and we have the Moon at 10 degrees of Capricorn, Shravana nakshatra. This means “to hear” and spans from 10 to 23.2 degrees of Capricorn; the symbol is an ear, or three footprints in an uneven row. The deity that rules this nakshatra is Vishnu, the preserver of the Universe. The stars that rule this nakshatra are the three stars in the head of the Eagle constellation, also known as the three footprints of Vishnu. Another star is Altair, which leads to positions of power ad wealth, but trouble with the law. The planet that rules this nakshatra is the Moon; in Persian astrology Mercury and Mars rule this lunar mansion.

The mythology is about Vishnu who spanned the Universe in three steps denoting both his expansive travels and his travel to the three worlds. This is called the “Star of Listening”, and the “Star of Learning”, and people born with this nakshatra strong in their chart are always questing for more knowledge and information; wisdom and the spoken word are very important here, as well as oral traditions. These people are forever students and are great intellectual teachers; they are very traditional and love history. They may be bad gossips if not evolved, or they may be the victim of gossip as they are very sensitive. They love to travel in pursuit of knowledge; there may be trouble and disappointments early in life. They will regain confidence with age and may walk with a limp.

On this day of the New Moon/Chinese New Year we have Mercury, the Sun, and now Saturn all conjunct the Moon. Saturn is sankrati, or on the cusp, of Capricorn, so it is in its infant stage and not fully operational yet. Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are in their own signs after the 24th, and this makes them all strong. The Jupiter/Ketu conjunction is now at Saturn’s back 12 houses away, and this indicates big enemies that want to steal from you. Be careful of gossiping copycats at this time, or becoming one. As this is in Shravana which is ruled by the Moon notice that the star associated with this nakshatra is big and white like the Moon, Altair, “The Star of Listening”. This is symbolic of the subconscious mind where secrets are hidden; we must be silent and clear the air in order to hear the true voice of the subconscious mind, and the Superconscious, or the Higher Self, too, This is your link to the divine where all creation comes from; no need to copy other humans when you can go straight to the source! The New Moon takes place at 4:40 EST, which is a high frequency number; I find it is important to pay attention to the time as the numbers reveal clues to the energy of an event. We are being given a fresh start, as the truth is being revealed. What was exposed at the Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse two weeks ago in the nakshatra of “the return of the light” is now coming forth, but we must stop talking and listen. While we have several planets in Sagittarius, the centaur/horse, the Democrats whose symbol is a donkey/horse were favored in the US Impeachment trial. Now that Saturn has shifted into Capricorn in Uttara Ashada, which is Ganesha’s nakshatra, the elephant, we will see the favor shifting to the Republicans, as this is their symbol, especially as the Sun moves into Aquarius. The year of the Chinese Metal Rat has two take-aways: 1) security-get home security systems; 2) keep your eyes on the prize. I think that aligns well with the Vedic astrology take away for this year, too; Saturn/Jupiter triple conjunction is heavy energy, we must protect the homeland, but we must persevere like Saturn and we will be rewarded!
