We have a very intense and passionate month ahead! We start out with Venus exalted in Pisces, and Mars goes gandanta on the same day. The energy ramps up when Mars enters Sagittarius preparing us for the Full Moon in Cancer, Ashlesha nakshatra on the 9th. We have the Sun entering Aquarius and conjuncting Mercury as he goes retrograde right after Valentine’s Day; if your romantic plans get messed up don’t worry! You’re not alone. Healing and health are in the news leading us up to the New Moon in Aquarius, Shatabishak. Both of the Moon nakshatra signs this month have to do with healing with and/or from poisons; certainly we will be dealing with health crises and cures will be found if not now, then later. This is all leading up to Mars conjuncting Ketu on the 25th, which is the same day that Pluto goes into Capricorn. This indicates radical religions fighting each other, and old traditions breaking down. On a personal level be careful of accidents that day, or letting your anger get the best of you. Make sure you are taking your vitamins to boost your immunity at this time, as viruses will be bad.
February 2nd til the 28th-Venus Goes Into Pisces, Exalted
This month begins with Venus moving into her sign of exaltation, Pisces, where her loving energy can best express itself in the form of selfless giving, compassion, and empathy for others. This is a beautiful energy to start the month, and we should remember this feeling at the end when things get rough. She will form a trine to Mars while he’s still in Scorpio until the 8th, so use this passion wisely; he will be gandanta, so karmic issues with love will surface. Venus is in Jupiter’s sign, and transit Jupiter is with the most spiritual planet right now, which is Ketu, and they are both forming a difficult square aspect to Venus. All of this means a healing is necessary in the relationship arena. A higher expression of this energy could be love for our teachers, our gurus, and learning forgiveness in that our teachers are human, too. If you have Pisces as your lagna or Moon sign this is an excellent time to meet your mate, or new business partner.
February 2nd-12th-Mars Gandanta in Scorpio/Sagittarius
Today Mars enters the Gandanta zone in Scorpio, which is from 26.4 degrees of a water sign to 3.2 degrees of the next fire sign. While he has been in this water sign, we have seen a lot of passionate displays of anger, particularly religious fervor and war cries as political drama is at an all-time high, and as Jupiter the Guru is now is his own sign of Sagittarius conjunct Saturn the authority figure. Nations are fighting each other, and we will see more of this as Mars approaches Ketu’s position on the 25th. Right now, he is Sankranti or on the cusp of the next sign, and in a water sign this is Gandanta, which means “knot at the end of a rope”. It is a very well-placed karmic knot that we must unravel before we can move onto the next cycle, so be sure that the issues we’ve seen since Christmas Day when he entered Scorpio will come up during this time. When Venus enters Pisces her sign of exaltation on the 3rd she will be trine Mars while he is still in Scorpio until the 8th; having the Gandanta energy there may mean that karmic issues with love and romance will come to a head, especially if Scorpio or Pisces are your lagna or Moon signs. As Mars and Venus rule cars, and as Mars rules sports, and real estate, all of these areas should be careful of accident while he’s in this gandanta area.
February 8th-Mars Enters Sagittarius
Today Mars moves into the fire sign of Sagittarius and joins Jupiter, Ketu and Pluto, and opposed to Rahu in Gemini just in time for the full moon the next day. He is still in the gandanta zone until the 12th, so be particularly careful of car accidents at this time. Mars is the soldier and in the sign of Sagittarius which rules our beliefs he loves to fight for what’s right. The problem is that not everyone agrees on what’s right, so this placement is often found in the charts of religious fanatics, sports fanatics, or athletes who have incredible energy and drive; other planets in the chart will tell you how this energy is handled.
We’ve already seen expressions of the Jupiter/Ketu conjunction in Sagittarius, but now that Saturn has moved away into Capricorn it’s very clear what it’s about; throw it out! Yes. Jupiter wants to expand everything, and Ketu wants to throw it out, get rid of it. So, we’ve been trying to throw things out that maybe we shouldn’t. Pluto here is making us face our beliefs about fears and anxieties of the past. Now that Mars is joining the party here, we should see more aggression put towards physically throwing things away, and there will be heightened anger, fear and anxiety about these things. This will probably be seen in the US President impeachment trial, and we should see some action taken at this time regarding the issue.
February 9th, 2:33am-Full Moon: 25 degrees Cancer, Ashlesha
Today’s Full Moon takes place at 25 degrees of Cancer, Ashesha nakshatra. This means “the embracer” and spans from 16.4 to 30 degrees of Cancer, and the symbol is a serpent, coiled or curled up. The deity that rules this nakshatra are the Sarpas, or the Nagas, which are deified snakes, and this is known as “The Clinging Star”. The stars that rule this nakshatra are the ring of stars in the head of the Hydra constellation; Acubens, which is situated on the southern claw of the Crab constellation is good for writing, study of astrology, and public affairs. The planetary ruler of this nakshatra is Mercury.
The mythology of Ashlesha nakshatra is about the serpent as the symbol of wisdom; this can be seen in all occult sciences and ancient cultures. The snake is the symbol for the Kundalini energy that lies dormant at the base of our spine and is activated through spiritual practices that bring spiritual enlightenment and magical powers. People that have this nakshatra prominent in their chart will have deep and large penetrating eyes that can put a spell on you. As it is known as The Clinging Star these people will smother and squeeze the life out of you if it is not in good dignity. These people need to be held, and touch is very important to them; babies with this placement must be held a lot, and breast feeding is a must, or later in life they will always feel unloved and abandoned. A negative side of this nakshatra is that natives with this placement will gravitate towards black magic if they have anger issues; they can even be dangerous, devious and sneaky liars, so be careful. Once harmed their cold-blooded nature comes out as they lose empathy for those who hurt them; steer clear of revenge if you have this placement, as it always tends to back-fire for these people, and they will suffer the consequences of the serpent’s coil acting like a boomerang and bringing it right back to them. These people are extremely sexual and use sex to get what they want. Healers that use poison-based medicines are found with this placement, as well.
Today the Moon is isolated in the chart, and the other planets are not around her, except for Rahu at her back, which indicates danger behind us that we cannot see. Cancer is ruled by the Moon, so having her in the nakshatra of The Clinging Star and having her isolated is making her feel very lonely, and even exposed to attack as this need creates a vulnerability. In the US Chart this will occur in the 8th house of hidden things, and having Mars move into Sagittarius today may indicate aggressive conflicts. On the other side of the chart we have the Sun sitting with Saturn, and they are natural enemies. The Sun wants to shine, and Saturn wants to dim his light and bring humility. I feel this is expressed through the US Presidential impeachment, but once the Sun steps into Aquarius the truth will be revealed, as he will join Neptune. Our saving grace today is that Venus is exalted in Pisces and making a trine to the Moon in Cancer; two water signs, and the Moon and Venus like each other, even though they’re in different planetary camps. So, look for emotional support from your friends who live afar; they may not be able to hug you directly, but you can feel their love if you use your Pisces psychic skill of telepathy. Ashlesha is ruled by Mercury, and transit Mercury is sitting with Neptune; this is an excellent time for music and using music for therapy to help us not feel so alone. You’re not alone, even though you may physically be alone at the moment; it’s temporary.
February 14th-Sun Enters Aquarius
Happy Valentine’s Day! The Sun enters the air sign of Aquarius today, and joins Mercury and Neptune. This is an excellent time for music, and harmonious communications of all kinds. Serving others through charity work is a great expression of this energy, especially if it’s to underprivileged communities. The Sun doesn’t necessarily do well in this sign, but he has stepped away from Saturn, which helps Saturn out quite a bit. Since it is Valentine’s Day when this happens we can’t help but look to Venus, and she is in her sign of exaltation, Pisces. Sun and Venus are in the 2/12 aspect from each other, so something lost, something gained, and maybe involving a partner from foreign lands or a past life.
February 16th-Mercury Goes Retrograde, 18 degrees Aquarius, Shatabishak
Today we have Mercury going retrograde at 8pm EST in the air sign of Aquarius in the nakshatra of Shatabishak, which means “a hundred healers”, and whose symbol is an empty circle, or a thousand flowers or stars. Here is where the most difficult diseases get cured, such as alcoholism. Seeing that we’ve had the coronavirus outbreak that has turned into a pandemic, perhaps today we will begin to see information coming out about it that has been withheld, as Mercury is conjunct the Sun and Neptune. Look in your chart to see which house is in Aquarius to see where previously undisclosed information regarding healing comes to light.
February 19th-The Most Difficult Day
Today has the potential to be a high stress day, as the Moon is passing through Sagittarius and conjuncting Jupiter, Pluto, Ketu and Mars. Having Mercury retrograde in Saturn’s sign of Aquarius and conjunct the Sun and Neptune shows the possibility of accidents, or even terrorist attacks, especially for the United States as Sagittarius is the lagna sign. Saturn is the sole planet in Capricorn, which means he has all of those Sag planets at his back; the enemy striking from behind. Watch out.
February 23rd, 10:30am-New Moon: 10 degrees Aquarius, Shatabishak
Today’s New Moon takes place at 10 degrees of Aquarius in the nakshatra of Shatabishak, which means “a hundred healers”. It spans from 6.4 to 20 degrees of Aquarius, and its symbol is an empty circle, or a thousand flowers. The deity that rules this lunar mansion is Varuna, the god of the cosmic waters or the earth and sky. The stars that rule this nakshatra are the large group of faint stars in the Water Bearer constellation; this water poured from his pot is the nectar of immortality; Fomalhaut is a star of musical abilities and great spirituality, and brings great fortune and misfortune. The planet that rules this nakshatra is Rahu, and in Persian astrology it is ruled by Mars and Saturn.
The mythology is about Varuna as the healer that poured out the waters of life that healed all illnesses and granted immortality. As the divine healer he also ruled Maya, or illusion; he granted divine grace from sincere repentance. This is called the “Veiling Star”, as this nakshatra is concerned with healing both the body and the mind. Oftentimes, these natives may be doctors or some sort of healer, and are usually wounded healers. The empty circle represents the void of space, the quantum field, that which is behind the illusion or Maya. These people are very mystical, scientific, philosophical, metaphysical, and spiritual. The dark side of the them is that they can be moody and lonely, and secretive. As they are very intuitive and intelligent they think they know better than others, and can be very arrogant and stubborn. As alcoholism is one of the hardest to cure diseases and it is ruled by this nakshatra, and indeed natives with this nakshatra prominent in their chart will have this tendency, or have it in their family. These people make great astronomers and astrologers as this nakshatra rules star gazing, and they will have an affinity for all things electric and energy healing comes easy to them.
On this day of the New Moon in Aquarius, Shatabishak nakshatra we have Mercury retrograde and Neptune conjunct the Sun and the Moon. This indicates lies and previously hidden information coming to light, especially concerning hard to cure diseases. I can only speculate at this time that it will have something to do with the coronavirus, and perhaps also HIV, as Rahu, the ruler of this nakshatra, is in Gemini, where it was back in 1983 when HIV was discovered. The ruler of Aquarius is Saturn, and he is in his own sign of Capricorn wedged between this New Moon and the still ongoing Jupiter/Ketu/Mars/Pluto conjunction in Sagittarius. Tomorrow we will have Mars conjunct Ketu exactly, and this is where they were on the day of 911. All of this intensity has to give, and this is a dangerous time for radical religions to fight each other, and terrorists to attack. Be mindful of your surroundings and don’t travel unless it’s necessary. Our saving grace is that Venus is in her sign of exaltation, Pisces, and Mars is aspecting her by his 4th aspect, so this is a very passionate and romantic time on a personal level; just be careful that the passion doesn’t hurt you, or you take it to extremes. Saturn is also aspecting Venus by his 3rd aspect, which is his strongest, and this puts a hand of caution on the party, which is a good thing. Exalted Pisces loves without expectations, and is happy for no reason; try to focus on these higher qualities of this graha during this intense time.
February 25th-Mars Exactly Conjunct Ketu, 12 degrees Sagittarius, Mula
Mars is the soldier planet, where he goes, he goes to battle for you. Ketu is the most spiritual planet and is the planet of the martyr; it is also the planet of loss. When these two grahas come together you know that there will be an intense struggle surrounding fighting for some spiritual idea, and in the sign of Sagittarius it is about religion, and our beliefs.
The last time Mars was conjunct the eclipse point was June 12, 2019, 23:44 Gemini, Punarvasu nakshatra; Hong Kong protests were raging against the Extradition Bill which would send residents to mainland China for trial by authorities. The protests began on March 15th, directly in-between the true and mean node dates that the Moon’s nodes changed signs to Gemini/Sagittarius. As this coronavirus has halted all travel from China into the US and Hong Kong, I can only imagine that this fight will reignite. Also, retaliation from extremists for the killing of the Iranian military leader a few months back could happen at this time. In general, radical religions will be fighting each other, and as this is where Mars and Ketu were when 911 happened, we can only pray that we do not see a repeat in some manner.
February 25th-March 2nd-Venus Gandanta in Pisces/Aries
As we are starting out this gandanta period we have Mars and Ketu conjunct, and as the feeling of gandanta is like you’re emotionally drowning, I feel we will all be sad from some drama in the news. “Gand” means a knot and “anta” means the end, so gandanta is a very well-placed karmic knot at the end of a rope that must unravel before you go onto the next cycle. We must unravel the karma so that we can grow and move on, and Venus in Pisces has such a romantic quality to it that I think we will be nostalgic and longing for the past at this time. The 25thand 26th the Moon will be in Pisces with Venus, so this especially will be a dreamy and romantic time. On the 28th and the 29th Venus will shift into Aries with the Moon and Uranus, and this can really bring a spark of spontaneity to your love life! Sudden meetings could bring you closer to your partner, especially if Aries or Libra is your lagna or Moon sign.
February 25th-Pluto goes into Capricorn
Today Pluto goes into Capricorn, and as it takes 248 years for Pluto to go around the Sun, he spends 20 years in each zodiac sign. So the last time Pluto was in Capricorn was 2000, and Pluto rules hidden power, secrets and corruption, and Capricorn is the sign of authority, we should see these issues surfacing during the next 20 years. This is the third event to take place today, the other two being Mars conjunct Ketu, and Venus gandanta. Today will be an intense day, so try to not get caught up in the drama. Hades/Pluto had to go to the underworld to seek the truth, and while Pluto is in Saturn’s sign we certainly will see some dark deep ugly secrets that the governments around the world have been hiding from us. Pluto is also the power of the small, for instance a small virus that can kill you. He will join transit Saturn today, and since he’s in Saturn’s sign this will intensify his energy. Look to what house is in the sign of Capricorn to see what area of life will receive this shift of energy.
February 29th-Venus Goes Into Aries
Venus leaves her sign of exaltation and goes into the fire sign of Aries where Uranus is, and for the 28th and 29ththe Moon will be there, too. Jupiter and Ketu will be aspecting Venus here by their 5th aspect, and so this will be an excellent time for romance and also for learning; you will be inspired by your teachers now and will feel a past-life connection. Jupiter/Ketu/Mars conjunction is still happening, so all of these planets are trining Venus/Uranus at this time, and I feel that if you have your lagna or Moon in Sagittarius or Aries you could meet a partner from a past-life, or someone that you have a karmic connection with whether you’re a man or a woman. Also, while Mercury is still retrograde past loves in this life could come back to you for healing, too. Review, release, and renew. It’s time to step into your future, and you must let go of the past in order to do that.
