February 4th: New Moon, 4:04pm, 21 degrees Capricorn, Shravana
This new moon is taking place in Capricorn, and in the nakshatra, or lunar mansion, of Shravana, which means “listening”. People with this nakshatra strong in their chart will have the gift of hearing into other dimensions and being a “good listener” with friends if they have cultivated this gift. If they have not learned the art of listening then they will talk incessantly, and oftentimes are bad gossips. Look to what house in your birth or Moon chart is ruled by Capricorn to see where you need to learn the art of silence during this transit. Learn the difference between simply hearing what someone has to say and really listening to them. Mars will also be gandanta, or drowning, at the end degree of Pisces, so tempers will flare. Try to channel this Mars energy into exercising, and especially water sports would help to calm you down.
Happy Chinese New Year of the Earth Pig! This will bring a grounding force to this year’s disruptive aspects. If you felt like January didn’t feel like a new beginning, then consider starting again on this New Moon. As Venus is now in the first degrees of Sagittarius it went gandanta at the end of January. In the US this and Mars gandanta manifested as the polar vortex shifting south and putting the Midwest in a deep freeze, which is carrying over into February 1-2. This New Moon on the 5th is the midpoint of Rahu/Ketu; tensions are high and there is a feeling of change pending. Earthquakes and volcanic eruptions are highly likely.
February 2-5th: Mars Gandanta in Pisces
Mars has been in the dreamy sign of Pisces and goes gandanta, or drowning, at the end degrees of 28-29 from the 2nd-5th. Extremes with the weather are common with gandanta planets, so I think this polar vortex will continue to plague those in the US Midwest and may bring more snow. This combined with Jupiter could expand anger, and particularly coming off of the new moon energy. Look to what house is ruled by Pisces in your birth or Moon chart to see where this volatility will occur in your life.
February 6th: Mars goes into Aries
As Mars rules cars, be careful of traveling if there may be inclement weather. Mars is exalted in its own sign of Aries, so if you felt January was spent sleeping and dreaming then it’s time to wake up! The alarm clock is going off! All physical pursuits will benefit and get a boost at this time. If your New Year’s resolution was to work-out more and you lost momentum in January, then now you will get back on track. Look to what house is ruled by Mars, Aries or Scorpio, in your birth or Moon chart to see what area of life will receive a boost of energy with this transit.
February 7th: Mercury goes into Aquarius
Mercury in the sign of Aquarius brings brilliance to the mind, and sudden flashes of insight are not uncommon. As Aquarius is ruled by Saturn there can be a certain stubbornness present, but this transit can help legal matters where you are looking for a breakthrough in a long drawn out case. This is a fast transit, so to take advantage of it look to what house is ruled by Aquarius in your birth or Moon chart to see what area of life may receive sudden insight.
February 13th: Mars conjunct Uranus in Aries
The day before Valentine’s Day we have Mars, the planet of unstoppable force, conjunct Uranus, the planet of sudden events. This translates as a good day for accidents to occur, and as Mars rules cars please be careful driving. As the research at Suspicious 0bservers shows us earthquakes happen almost everyday across the globe having this transit means that we are more likely to see larger earthquakes and volcanic erruptions at this time. If your ascendant or Moon sign are in Aries then this means it will be in your 1st house, and can denote accidents. Just being aware and being more cautious can mitigate this influence. Saturn and Pluto have been in Sagittarius for some time, and now Venus is there with them; this adds more malefic energy to this transit, but having Venus there will soften the blow; this could play out as a huge accident involving many people on a global scale, but personally it could be the proverbial day before Valentine’s Day breakup scenario. As there is a always a positive and negative to everything this shakeup could bring you an advancement in your Aries house FAST. A breakup or a breakthrough is imminent. Perhaps you will receive the career opportunity you’ve been working towards if your 10th or 7th houses are ruled by Aries. Look to what house in your ascendant or Moon chart is ruled by Aries to see how this transit will play out for you, and also the other Mars house in your chart, Scorpio.
February 10th-18th: Venus/Saturn conjunction in Sagittarius
This conjunction will bring a seriousness and heavy feel to relationships during this transit. Don’t forget that Saturn adores Venus, though. They are both in the same planetary camp of the asuras, or nature spirits, so they are natural friends. I believe this will help to mitigate some of the negative effects of this conjunction. The sign of Sagittarius is not the favorite of either planet, and they both feel a little uncomfortable in this sign. Venus wants to party here, but Saturn is the cop stopping it. Look to what house in your chart is ruled by Sagittarius to see how you can apply “tough love”, and where traditions may be hampering your love life. You may feel in a bad mood during this time, and elders may become demanding. Try to be patient. This is a good time to fast.
February13th: Sun goes into Aquarius
The Sun will be joining Mercury and Neptune in the air sign of Aquarius. If you’re an artist your creativity should flow quite nicely, and if you’ve felt frustrated with a writer’s block, then you may have some sudden eureka moment that will give you the idea you’ve been searching for. This is also great for musicians and astrologers. Look to what house is ruled by Aquarius in your birth or Moon chart to see what area of life is receiving the light of the Sun.
February19th: Full Moon, 10:53a.m, 6 degrees Leo, Magha
This full moon is in Leo in the nakshatra of Magha. It means “The Great One” and is ruled by the star Regulus, which is the star of kings. This star is in the heart of the Lion constellation, and so during this full moon pay attention to your heart in all aspects, both physically and emotionally. This part of Leo has to do with authority and power, and as Mars is in Aries right now this will add to the fire and there could be power struggles. This nakshatra also has to do with the Pitris, or the ancestors, and it is believed that this star holds our ancestors in-between incarnations. Honoring your family and ancestors in any way is auspicious at this time. Researching the family tree, doing a DNA test, or reading the memoirs of our loved ones are great activities to engage in, especially as Mercury is opposite in Aquarius. Jupiter is getting ready to go gandanta, or drowning, in Scorpio, and that makes a square aspect to this full moon, which should amp the discord up. Just being aware of this can help you to not overreact if things get heated. Venus and Saturn are conjunct adding a somber tone, but being that they are in Sagittarius actually helps this full moon, and may help you to stabilize your emotions. Use this full moon to reflect on familial patterns and how to break them. Look to what house is ruled by Leo in your chart to see what issues will be illuminated for you.
February17th: Mercury goes out of combustion with the Sun in Aquarius
This is not a major transit, as Mercury travels closely with the Sun, and because of this it is combust more than any other planet. If Mercury is a personal planet for you then you will be able to shine again and express yourself, and not feel overshadowed by an authority figure. Look to what house is ruled by Aquarius in your birth or Moon chart to see how this will affect you.
February 24th: Mercury goes into Pisces (debilitated)
When Mercury goes into its sign of debilitation, Pisces, it is hard for us to communicate ourselves. Our speech is mumbled, our thoughts mush. Pisces is the sign of other realms and dimensions, and with Mercury here we may communicate or channel information from the Akashic Records, or other entities. Telepathy will be strong at this time. It may be hard for us to know what dimension we are in at times, and we may have visions of past lives. Try to ground yourself during this time by dancing (Pisces rules the feet), or swimming. February 24th: Venus/Ketu Conjunction in Sagittarius
Venus, the planet of love, and Ketu, the planet of selflessness, the past, loss and spirituality. The positive attributes of this conjunction are spiritual love and rediscovering a love from the past. The negative attributes to this are loss of love and losing a love from the past. This conjunction can bring an otherworldly love and beauty, too. For instance, in the second house of the speech and the face it can impart the individual with a divine voice and ethereal beauty, but as the second house is a maraca (killer) house it can give but also take these things away. Relationships with women will be difficult at this time whether you are a man or woman. Look to what house is ruled by Sagittarius in your birth or Moon chart to see how this will affect you.
February 25th: Venus goes into Capricorn
Venus sheds her party clothes to go into a business suit in the sign of Capricorn. This is her friend’s, Saturn’s, sign and so while this is not her favorite sign ( which is Pisces) it is not a bad placement for her. She leaves the tenuous conjunction in Sagittarius with Ketu and makes a sextile aspect to Jupiter in Scorpio here. Perhaps some of the Guruji’s Grace that was received last month during these two planets conjunctions will start to take seed in the soil of Capricorn and bear fruit later. This would be a great time to go over the teachings of our Gurus from January at this time. As Mercury is in Pisces at this time it would be an excellent time for writing books or music.
