Full Moon: August 3rd, 11:58 am EST-17 degrees Capricorn, Shravana
The August 2020 Full Moon takes place at 17 degrees of sidereal Capricorn, Shravana nakshatra, which means “to hear”. The symbols are an ear, and three footprints in uneven row. The deity that rules this lunar mansion is Vishnu, the preserver of the Universe, and as he spanned the Universe in three steps we see that it indicates his expansive travels, and his travels to the three worlds. This is the Star of Listening, also called the Star of Learning, and the star that belongs to this nakshatra is Altair, and also the three stars in the head of the Eagle constellation, also known as the three footprints of Vishnu. The planetary ruler of Capricorn is Saturn, and the planetary ruler of Shravana is the Moon; in Persian astrology it is Mars and Mercury.
Shravana in a Birth Chart
People born with Shravana prominent in their birth or navamsa charts are always seeking for wisdom and intelligence. Education and the spoken word are particularly valuable to them; they make great students and teachers and are always searching for more understanding. They love to study history and are looking for why events have unfolded as they have. The negative side of this lunar mansion is listening to gossip or being the purveyors of rumors. As the Moon rules this nakshatra they are extremely sensitive, and can be the victims of gossips themselves, and as a result take the insults to heart. They are restless and love to travel to acquire more expertise in their career or hobbies. In their early life they will have setbacks and frustrations that are karmic lessons from Saturn, but after midlife when the D9 navamsa chart takes over they will gain a sense of self-confidence. Another effect of Saturn here is that they may tend to walk with a limp.
Analysis
On the August 2020 Full Moon day at 17 degrees of Capricorn, Shravana nakshatra, we have the Moon sitting with Saturn retrograde, and the Sun sitting with Mercury. For Washington DC this is happening in the 5th house of education and children, and will be all about the children starting school again and whether or not they should be in classrooms; Mercury and Saturn retrograde are in an almost exact opposition, and with the retrograde status of Saturn in Uttara Ashada this means that the government has a lot to do with why they are or are not in the classroom.
The Sun is in Cancer which is the sign of the mother, and indeed the mothers across the US are split down the middle as to whether their children should be physically present in school, or continue online learning due to the pandemic. The Sun is in the part of Cancer called Ashlesha, and this indicates the poisonous serpentine energy of this lunar mansion, and that poison can be lethal or a healing medicine; certainly at this time the current pandemic is indicated here, and also that we are furiously searching for a cure. Mercury is in the nakshatra of Punarvasu, and this is the “return of the light”; this may be our saving grace and indicate that indeed it is time for the children to return to the light of learning.
Punarvasu is ruled by Jupiter, and he is retrograde in his own sign of Sagittarius and in the 4th house of the home in the Washington DC transit chart; this indicates that there will be a split, some will go to school, and some will continue to home-school. Jupiter retrograde is sitting with Pluto retrograde in a close conjunction; this indicates a dark agenda that is playing out in the homeland. Having Ketu there in Mula nakshatra means that staying at home is being promoted by the leaders of the of the dark agenda of Pluto retrograde. I believe many will want their children to return to school, if only part time. Having Venus sitting with Rahu opposite to Jupiter retrograde, Pluto retrograde and Ketu indicates that the women have a lot to do with the behind the scenes power struggle of the dark agendas being purported right now.
Saturn retrograde is giving his 3rd and strongest aspect to Mars, and once he goes gandanta on the 7th we will feel it even more so; these two planets are polar opposites, so there is a push-pull energy between our need to take action quickly and our need to review things slowly. It’s the proverbial unstoppable force that meets the immovable object; I see this as the US government cracking down on the rioting, and also since Saturn is in the 5th house of education, and Mars is in the 7th house, this is manifesting as the government threatening to give the education money to parents if schools do not reopen.
