Today’s New Moon takes place at 4:17am EST at 9 degrees of Leo, Magha nakshatra. This means “the great one”, and spans from zero to 13.2 degrees of Leo, and the symbol is the royal throne. The deities that rule this nakshatra are the Pitris, the familial ancestors, and the fathers. This is the Star of Power, and the fixed star Regulus rules here, which is the heart of the Lion/Leo constellation. This star brings wealth and fame, but because of its royal association, it can bring greed and arrogance. This is the part of the sky that our ancestors go after they die before being reincarnated again. Leo is ruled by the Sun, and Magha is ruled by Ketu, so these two planets will be particularly important for today’s forecast.
Magha in a Birth Chart
This is the nakshatra that indicates royalty, and indeed people born with this star prominent in their birth chart will be leaders with power. These people are ambitious and strive for wealth and luxuries, but they also love to take care of others, especially their family and children. Their family heritage is of utmost importance to them, and they love to do research on their family’s history, and learn about their DNA. In their striving for power, they can come off as arrogant and greedy, but it’s really an insatiable lust for knowledge and truth that fuels their appetite. The lower vibration of this star shows an elitist snob, whereas a high vibration shows a wealthy charity worker who volunteers their time to the poor.
Fixed Star Regulus
Regulus, 6 degrees sidereal Leo
Jupiter/Mars-great pride, grandly liberal, commanding, cosmopolitan views
Fixed star Regulus, Alpha Leonis, is a 1.4 magnitude blue-white star in Leo Constellation. Regulus is actually a quadruple star system composed of four stars that are organized into two pairs. The traditional name Regulus is Latin for ‘prince‘, or ‘little king‘. In Arabic it is قلب الأسد (Qalb al-Asad, ‘the heart of the lion‘), the same as the Latin Cor Leōnis and Greek Kardia Leontos. In Chinese it is 轩辕十四, the Fourteenth Star of Xuanyuan, the Yellow Emperor. In Babylonian it was Sharru, ‘the King‘ and LUGAL, ‘the star that stands in the breast of the Lion: the King.’ In Persian it was Miyan, ‘the Centre‘ and Venant, one of the four ‘royal stars’ of the Persian monarchy, where in 3,000 BC, as the Watcher of the North, it marked the summer solstice. It gives violence, destructiveness, military honor of short duration, with ultimate failure, imprisonment, violent death, success, high and lofty ideals and strength of spirit, and makes its natives magnanimous, grandly liberal, generous, ambitious, fond of power, desirous of command, high-spirited and independent. It may convey royal properties, noble mind, frankness, courage. The importance of this star is accentuated by its nearness to the ecliptic. Regulus was one of the fifteen Behenian Fixed Stars, associated with granite, mugwort, celandine, mastic and the kabbalistic symbol. Its image is a lion, cat, or an honorable person seated in a chair. It makes the wearer temperate, gives favor and appeases wrath. Regulus star rules two inches below the top of the kidneys in the human body.

New Moon Forecast
Today’s New Moon takes place in the second house of the day, and in the US birth chart’s 9th house of education and laws, and this is pointing to laws about money changing. Indeed, the student loan forgiveness has been a huge topic that has polarized the country. This is Magha personified, as best exemplification of this nakshatra is to give and to help others, whereas the worst is to hold class and power over those who are underprivileged. The elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about is that college has become way too expensive, and there needs to be an overhaul of degrees that don’t produce jobs for their graduates. This is the problem. No one wants to get a degree that they cannot get a job with, so people are reluctant to pay back for something that didn’t promise the future they had stated. Universities have become a breeding ground for all of the negative aspects of Magha: classicism, elitism, racism, sexism, elitism that take power away from the students and keep it in academia’s hands. I am hoping that there will be laws changed in the future so that we don’t need to pay so much money for education, and that the whole system is overhauled. It’s a hot mess, and this is why people cannot pay back their exorbitant loans.
Ketu is sitting in the fourth house of the day, indicating a loss in the real estate markets, and in general happiness is at a low. People are just stressed out and pushed to their limits with inflation, and the mass shootings seem to continue every day, putting everyone on edge. I find myself reminiscing of the “good old days” of the 70’s and 80’s, and this nostalgia for the past is an expression of Ketu in the fourth, the homeland. People are sad, and we’ve got to do whatever we can go get out of this funk.
We just had Uranus go retrograde on the 24th, and he’s still sitting with Rahu in the 10th house of the day. This shows an abrupt change in the government, and we know that tensions are high overseas. We’ve also got the lawsuit against the government by former Pres. Trump, so there is a big disruption going on with our government, but seeing that Jupiter Rx and Neptune Rx are in the 9th house of law, we may never know the truth about it. Big shakings up are going on, and as Mars is the yoga karaka planet for this chart and it’s in the 11th house, we see the anger of the people getting activated. Enough is enough with the lies and the deceptions, and as Mars receives 5 bindu points for this house for the US, it’s a good thing it will be here for 3 months. The public is activated and motivated to get to the bottom of these deceptions.
Personal Forecast
This is a great day to reflect on our ancestors, do some family tree research, or do a DNA test. Opposite Magha is Shatabishak nakshatra, which is concerned with rare diseases that can be inherited. You may find out more information about your health, and that what you’re experiencing is a pattern in your family’s health history. Today is a great day to get to the source of the problem, and information may come to you regarding this. Honor your ancestors today by cooking a family recipe, since it’s in the second house, or lighting a candle for them. Reflect upon your family’s history, and especially your father’s lineage.
