April 30th, 4:28pm EST-NEW MOON SOLAR ECLIPSE, 16 degrees Aries, Bharani
*eclipses affect us for six months
The second New Moon of April occurs on the 30th at 4:28pm EST, and this is also our first Solar Eclipse of 2022, occuring at 16 degrees of Aries, Bharani nakshatra, which means “the bearer” of new life. This nakshatra spans from 13.20 to 26.40 of Aries, and the symbol is the yoni, or the female reproductive organ that births us into this world. The deity that rules this lunar mansion is Yama, the god of death who escorts you to the other side after you die. This is the “Star of Restraint”, and the fixed star Almach, a binary star in the foot of Andromeda rules here, as well as Menkar, the jaw of the Whale constellation, which implies being bound by something. Menkar denotes dishonor, disgrace, and trouble with legacies, and he is holding Almach down, and so this portion of the zodiac denotes struggle to gain freedom, but once free there is a lot of artistic abilities and honors given. Mars is the ruler of Aries, and Venus is the ruler of Bharani, so these two transit planets will be particularly important today.
The people that have this nakshatra prominent in their chart often go through painful periods of personal breakthroughs, where they have to tranform their environment dramatically to survive. This pushes someone to change, and often these people have a brooding nature, as they can be quite stubborn. They do love to try things first, and are often pioneers in their fields, engineers, social activists, and philosophers are seen here. These people feel opressed by others, and they can often be jealous, or others are jealous of them. They can be fanatics, or even cult members or leaders, as they inflict the internal oppression they feel onto others. If they have enough good things in their chart to denote a spiritual nature, once they overcome their struggles, they thrive, and can help others to do the same by being a leader or mentor. Obstetricians, midwives, doulas, or anyone helping with the birthing process will have this star shining in their chart.
This first solar eclipse of 2022 has several intense aspects. Let’s break it down:
1) PLANETARY WAR: Jupiter Venus Conjunction, 3 degrees Pisces, Uttara Bhadrapada
o Jupiter in his own sign
o Venus exalted
2) Mars Saturn Conjunction, wide orb
3) Pluto Retrograde, 4 degrees Capricorn, Uttara Ashada
o Until October 9th, 2 degrees Capricorn
4) Mercury in Taurus breaks the Kala Sarpa Yoga

For Washington DC the Full Moon is taking place in the 8th house of death and tranformation, and also secrets. Uranus has been there for quite some time, and having the eclipse there should bring some unexpected changes. When an eclipse happens something that was previously hidden is revealed, it literally “comes out of the shadows”. So, for the USA it will be concerning scandals, espionage, war secrets, or technological breakthroughs. Ketu is in the 2nd house for this eclipse, which points to the economy being down for the next six months.
1) Planetary War
This conjunction of Jupiter and Venus is happening in the US 7th house of the New Moon, and this indicates a war with your opponent, and points to the real war in the Ukraine. Neptune is also there in this conjunction, even though he’s not involved in the planetary war; this just shows the lies and deception involved in this confrontation, and that we are not being told the truth about what’s really going on with this Ukrainian War. This is not a good indication for the US that Russia is going to behave, and we will probably be faced with the possibility of some sort of an attack. The good news is that Jupiter is in his own sign of Pisces, and it’s a water sign, and he always does better in a planetary war when in a water sign. Jupiter is definitely the winner of this graha yuddha, as he stays on the degree longer, and having the Great Benefic there helping in the 7th house may take the edge off. Let’s hope so. Venus is also in her exaltation sign of Pisces, so this also brings more good luck to the table. For sure we all need to be visualizing peace and praying for the best outcome for everyone right now, which is what the spirituality of Pisces really is about. It’s not about lalaland bliss, it’s about going through some really difficult tragedies that lead you to a place of inner peace and wisdom. No one likes to go through the difficult part, though, but you must if you are going to really live.
2) Mars Saturn Conjunction, wide orb
As the Moon is in Aries, Mars is the ruling planet, and transit Mars is conjunct Saturn now. Shani just changed signs from Capricorn to Aquarius yesterday, and this always bring our karma to us so we can clear it off before we start the new cycle. Saturn is giving his 3rd aspect to this eclipse, which intensifies the pressure. Having Mars conjunct Saturn is the proverbial traffic jam frustration; you want to move forward, but something is holding you back. Ironically, that is also the feeling of Bharani, the pains of birthing a new reality. So, having this in the 6th house of health an indication that the pandemic is not over, even if we’re over with it. This could also indicate aggression from our open enemies at this time, and what concerns me is the possibility of a nuclear war. We must be on guard against overreacting at this time, because things will explode if we’re not careful.
3) Pluto Retrograde
The god of death for the Greeks was Pluto, and in the Vedas it’s Yama; how ironic that the deity of the Solar Eclipse, Yama, goes retrograde the day before. Pluto represents death, transformation, secret and hidden things, it’s the “power of the small”, as in a virus that can take you down, or an atomic bomb. It’s a secret society such as a cult, the military, the mafia, a modern mystery school. So, having this planet go retrograde at the time of eclipse with all of the above factors is not a good indication of peace at this time. A retrograde planet amplifies the meanings of that planet, so all of these indications point to war. I don’t want to enflame fear, but it’s not looking good. It’s in the 5th house for this eclipse, so it’s showing this energy around children, and this war has taken the lives of so many in Ukraine, it’s out of control. For the US there are many issues surrounding children right now, from the vaccine, to how sexuality is taught in the classroom if at all, as well as addressing the increasing amount of bullying and suicides at this time amongst younger generations. We must take care of our children at this time, so make sure you involved with them particuarly now. Our children must know that they are loved at this time, so don’t just text, call them, if they aren’t with you everyday.
4) Mercury in Taurus Breaks the Kala Sarpa Yoga
Mercury has broken the Kala Sarpa Yoga when he entered Taurus on the 24th, and he is giving us some relief during this time. A Kala Sarpa Yoga is when all of the planets are between Rahu and Ketu, and is an intense time when fated or destined things occur. This will give us something to focus on, as it’s in the 9th house for the US, higher education, hope and inspiration we can shut the door on the outside world and cozy up with a book, or a good movie. This eclipse is a great time to start learning about mantras, or meditation, so try to calm your mind with anything Venusian.
