February 1, 2022~New Moon in Capricorn, Shravana
This New Moon is taking place at 12:46am EST at 18 degrees of Capricorn, Shravana nakshatra. This means “to hear”, and spans from 10 to 23.3 degrees of Capricorn. This is the “Star of Listening”, and the star Altair in the Eagle constellation rules this lunar mansion, and gives power and wealth, but can indicate trouble with the law. The deity that rules here is Vishnu, the preserver of the universe. It is said in the Vedas that Vishnu spanned the universe in three steps, indicating his expansive travels including going to the three worlds. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, and Shravana is ruled by the Moon, making these two transit planets particularly important today.
In a birth chart Shravana shows intelligence and the need to quest for new information and wisdom. The spoken word is important to them, and they make excellent teachers or perpetual students. These are natural born counselors, as they really know how to listen. The opposite of listening is talking, so on the negative side if these people do not have self awareness they will be gossip-mongers. As they are ruled by the Moon these natives are very sensitive, so if not gossiping themselves, they may have others gossip about them, and this hurts them more than others. They have a restless nature that loves to travel, usually chasing knowledge. They seem to have a lot of tragedy and drama early in life, and may walk with a limp or have some kind of disability. The second half of life is usually better for them, and aging gives them confidence.
Today’s New Moon is taking place in the 4th house for Washington DC, and this is the house of the mother, real estate, the emotional heart/hearth, vehicles, and the masses/the public. You can see from the chart below that we have 5 planets in Capricorn, and the lords of the day are Saturn and the Moon, and they are there. This is an overwhelming energy that will drain the life force out of you, so recharge your batteries and rest. Do something fun, like going out to eat, a museum, or stay home with the pets and make some soup. It’s that kind of day. This is a heavy energy, and Saturn being in his own sign, and the Moon being in a Moon ruled nakshatra says that we must listen to our intuition now. Don’t listen to negativity or disinformation, and try to listen to your heart. Venus and Mars are together today, and this produces tremendous passion, so channel it into your creative projects and romantic nature. Jupiter and Neptune in the 5th house is really encouraging us to use our creativity to travel to other worlds, and learn about multidimensionality. Saturn is giving his 3rd aspect to the 6th house of health today, so this tells us that the gaze of Shani is still on our health, and we are not out of the shadows of the pandemic.
In the US birth chart this New Moon is taking place in the 2nd house of money, the mouth, the voice, speech, and losses, as this is a maraka, or “killer”, house. I feel like the Dow Jones is going to go down with this, and we already know that cryptocurrency has been down for over a month. Having the sign of Capricorn so heavilty populated with planets tells me that our leadership is to blame for the economy, and inflation. A lack of solid leadership is driving down the economy, so we must be frugal right now. Don’t overspend, and really watch how you use your resources. The sign of Libra is receiving Saturn’s 10th aspect, and having all of these planets with him is putting more pressure upon Libra. For the US this is the 11th house of communities and great gains, so we see that large groups of people are suffering financially because of this lack of leadership from the current administration. Having Venus and Mars on the US ascendant tells me that passions will be high, and our passion could be frustration that is channeled into violence, so be careful.
